| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Member location The idea of a shoutbox has been brought up before. You'd need to petition Brian. I'm against the idea, personally. I don't see what it would add to the community. In fact I could see it having a detrimental effect - folks having discussions in the shoutbox, then going on to threads to carry it on (or indeed, carrying the discussion from a thread to the shoutbox), there'd be no continuity for another member to come into the conversation... Tain't broke... |

However, I've fresh baked Fertwhurler here, to back it up) ![]() Just discovered, the decent quote box is also back. | Re: Member location All you need to know is that Pyan the Moderator (that would be Py) is well armed.... As for shoutboxes, I'm with Cul if shoutboxes mean discontinuity in threads. (It can be hard enough following some threads as it is without wondering if content vital to one's understanding is somewhere else.) |

| Re: Member location Well 3 cheers to Ursa to pointing that out, just need to see if it works no my phone! As for the Shoutbox well i came across that no a tarantula forum i post on. It doesn't take away from posts on their. I don't use it that much but its handy for a quick query or bo important announcement accessible to all, instantly. When viewing this forum's main page i find a lot gets missed unless you go into the sub headings. For example two people might have made new posts in say Classic SF but if another thread in General is more active then those other threads won't be seen unless you look for them. |

More like the "Shout your Frustrations" thread I'd have thought, which is one of the finer threads to waste what little time we all have left. | ||

| Re: Member location I normally login and go straight to new posts. This lets me view all posts made since I've been away. It also means I must pop in regularly (so the pages of missed posts don't overwhelm me ).I love this place, it's so chilled (most of the time ). |
