What are some book publishers that I can contact about getting a science fiction book I am writing published?

Welcome to Chronicles. My suggestion would be to finish and polish it before worrying about which publishers to send it to. Keep the focus on the writing to begin with. Getting published isn't easy, so enjoy the process of writing ... then worry about who might want to put it into print for you. If you're only writing it with the thought of making a few bucks, then I wouldn't rush to give up the day job.

That's not me being nasty or cynical. It's a practical suggestion. Good luck with finishing.

Re: Book Publishers

Good advice there from Mark.

Get it written. Then re-write it. Then re-write another 5-50 times with periodically giving it out to trusted unbiased readers who can give you no BS assessments of the work.

Once you've gone through all that buy a copy of the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook which lists most publishers with contact details, submission guidelines and genres they work with.

Good luck!

Re: Book Publishers

There are changes afoot at BeWrite Books. Cait Myers, their administrator is leaving and while that is sad for the 120+ authors who regularly deal with her, there is also an opportunity for unpublished science fiction and fantasy writers. Up till now BeWrite Books have only published 4 scifi books - partly as favours to friends such as John Grant - many of you will know and met him at cons. There is scope for the new admin to establish a speculative fiction imprint. Watch this space.
