Re: Another Nebula win for Le Guin Thanks for the update. Of course Le Guin deserves everything that comes her way IMO, one of the greats of SFF. I've got the trilogy but haven't read it yet. Will be interested to see if I have a similar reaction to Teresa. I don't know how the determination of the Nebulas work exactly but is it not possible they gave her the Nebula for the final book but it was more a case of an award meant to span the overall series as sometimes happens in others areas of the arts? For example, LOTR III scooped the pool at the Academy Awards where I felt Fellowship Of The Ring was clearly the best of the 3 parts due to characterization and Return Of The King the weakest from a plot viewpoint if you were judging as someone who had never read the books.

Re: Another Nebula win for Le Guin Her second and third novels, both set in the Hainish milieu. Both are minor in relation to the works about to come, but I think Planet of Exile (assuming I'm remembering it correctly) is excellent and the other is okay. Her next seven books are the ones which "made" her. I don't like the Earthsea books but her next three other novels and her first collection (especially) were landmarks (or, in the case of The Lathe of Heaven, probably should have been).

Re: Another Nebula win for Le Guin Yes....I've got all but one of the Hainish books collected so far. They're certainly amongst her best work but I found that Earthsea was the work that first introduced me to Le Guin as a youngster and have always held the same level of respect for it as The Hobbit as pure classics of children's fantastic fiction.
