Hello from England

Hello

I'm from England, am 16 and have an eclectic taste in literature- science fiction, fantasy, classics etc. I read a lot, and have a firm interest in anime/ movies/ literature.

I like the look of the forums a lot, and have already posted a little.

Nice to meet you all!

Amber

Re: Hello from England

Hello Amber, it's refreshing to meet a 16 year old from England who actually knows what the word eclectic means.

So, who are your favourite fantasy authors?

Re: Hello from England

Why thank you kind person *curtsies*

As to my *more* authors, that woud take all day! And many are fairly antique and boring- Dante's Inferno for example, and The Golden Bough by Frazer

Re: Hello from England

You just mentioned two that fascinated me when I was younger, actually they are still fairly interesting to me and more than verging upon the occult.

Re: Hello from England

Ooooo, a 16 year old!!! Especially one that says "eclectic"... Keep your peepers on that one!!! Sounds a bit iffy to me...

Welcome to the board, take your shoes off, pull up a comfy chair, and enjoy your time here..

Re: Hello from England

Why thank you *accepts invitations and sits*

As to the Golden Bough and Dante's Inferno, they always fascinated me, and I can remember wanting to learn Italian so i could read the original. Alas I was bad at languages, and had to desist from my plans. However I got hold of good copies of both the books mentioned above.

Of course I like Dosteovesky as well (I know I've spelt his name wrong, but I'm bad at spelling, especially Russian names.) Crime and Punishment is such a great book- especially Razmoukin (another bad spelling.) Though I doubt that comes under sci-fi/ fantasy, more a sort of social study of those times through the eyes of a madman.

Re: Hello from England

Don't worry about Dante's Inferno in original version. Unless you're a scholar well versed in his century toscan, you wouldn't understand much, even being fluent in italian. Besides, most english and french translations (can't judge for other languages) are quite faithfull.
