Because we still live in a misogynist society, just more subtle than it used to be.

Doesn't seem subtle, society's just rife with prudes

True, although as last year's election showed, one doesn't have to do more than scratch the surface of a lot of politicians, journalists and comentators to get far from subtle expressions of misogyny.

Also true.

Looking at the Principal's picture on the BBC news item (BBC NEWS | Education | Teacher in trouble over thong), and seeing his cartoon-like pose ("I'm seriously miffed and I don't care who knows it!"), I'm not sure whether I'm more bothered by the thought that this is how he is (or wants to be seen) or the thought that some photographer asked him to pose that way and he obliged.

By the way, the Manor Community College's logo looks as if it's trying to suggest that it's an academy for the sort of "dancing" of which Mr Slade may not approve. (And even putting that aside, they seem to be aiming for a rather slim body-shape in their students, one of which certain health professionals may not approve.)

Parson - she isn't cheating on her husband in the head teacher's office, these are only glamour photographs.

Most attractive? Voted Britain's sexist Teacher?? Well I didn't get a vote and I wouldn't have used it on her.
Dave, I think you misunderstood me. I thought the whole teacher disciplined thing was stupid. My point was that if Britian (following? leading?) Europe told the US to get over it (Clinton's affair), why would they make such a big deal out of what at the most was Boudoir photos.

Re: Sexiest Teacher to be disciplined

Well see this is why when I see young girls expressing a desire to be a glamour model want to slap them. The amount of them who are going to be as successful (if you're measuring it in terms of cash anyway) as Jordan is miniscule and lets face it - it's not a long term career. So when they do pick something vaguely sensible these pictures will, more than likely, come back and bite you in the ass, and while you may be very proud of them at 19 & 20 are you really going to feel the same at 35?

Saying that - it's a storm in a teacup & they should get over it already.

My apologies then. I must say that didn't see a big "get over it" from Britain though. I thought our Anglo-Saxon attitudes to sex were similar to American ones. You have the historical excuse of taking away all our Puritans, I don't know what our excuse is. Now, if it had been the French President, then they would probably have given him a medal.

My turn to apologize then. Here it was reported that "Europe...." about the Clinton moment of infamy. I made the assumption (always a dangerous thing) that Europe meant something like "the majority of the people in all the European countries." I should have known better and not have trusted news sources.
