Need some film help.

Hey everyone,

Currently I'm writing an alien invasion film to film next Summer. Im struggling at the moment to think of original ideas in why aliens would invade the earth. Does anyone have any ideas, or anything that you think would be cool to see in such films?

Well, if you're not sure, why are you trying to write it?

Not trying to be unduly negative, but it's pretty strange to ask for help at the start of a project you're taking on.

That'd be because most of the ideas are constrained by the implications of logic - why, if they are advanced enough to travel the massive distance to us, are they limited in such a way that the invasion isn't the simple total and immediate subjugation (or destruction) of mankind?

Strategic position of earth in another war they're already waging. Why did Germany invade France? So they would have an easier route to England. Just as an example of an idea I toyed with once.

Other notions might be: Slave loabour. The Daleks may have used Robomen because Daleks don't have fingers, for example, so your aliens could have a physical deficiency - perhaps they are trans-dimensional and aren't solid here, but they need to be here to open a rear-guard trans-diemnsional rift to get at their enemies. I like that one.

I understand the pressures of being forced to come up with a plot for a deadline, so you are welcome to these if they are of any value to you at all.

I've just written an online sci-fi -- whereby and humans and aliens are all in the same boat -- having been taken and/or invaded by yet another, more powerful race.

The crux of the issue faced by all is: WHY? WHERE? WHAT NEXT?

Ummm, I wouldn't be too keen on giving any ideas in response to this. This amounts to trolling for unpaid writers to come up with script scenarios -- a way to skirt around professional writers, who expect to get paid for their labor -- unless the poster is willing to offer some form of recompense (and no, I don't mean a tiny credit someone towards the end of the 20-30 second roll onscreen)....

There is such things are writers block. Plus its cool to get some inspiration from other people to help with perhaps personal ideas or experiences. Im sure there in no-harm in that.

There was an Episode of enterprise where one race was harvesting the other for lymphatic fluid, maybe something along those lines would work.

How about, to prevent us from becoming too powerful and then possibly overwhelming them. This was apparently the rationale for Sparta in going into the Peloponnesian War - to stop Athens and its allies from becoming too powerful.
