Re: 1000 Post Club My writs crackers are bound to be cheesy, if only by association with my pun. And thinking of food, what about some torte? (I realise that even addressing this risks me being thought uncivil, but I have an obligation to mention it....)

Re: 1000 Post Club *Flames go a little yellower and fuzzy for a moment and heat softens* Torte..... My father, a civil servant for many years, is also a tax lawyer, and does a lot of wills/estates. He did taxes for many years for this lady who made the MOST spectacular, many-layered torte cake. Probably 20 or 30 layers, covered with this semi-hard glaze. She's unfortunately passed on, but in the 10-15 years since that happened, I've still not tasted the like.... *Shakes himself, eyes refocus, and corona flares back to full strength*

Re: 1000 Post Club Did someone say tort(e)!? I'm intrigued both as a law clerk/student and as a general cake-lover. And as a platypus, because platypuses are usually intrigued about all sorts of things - it's part of our charm!

Re: 1000 Post Club Why, as I live and breathe, 'tis HJ. *Dampens fiery hand and extends to his platypusship!* How is? EDIT: Ah, and your pardon, your honor; didn't see you standing quietly over there. Hoping things are well with you too?

Re: 1000 Post Club Why hello Grim! *extends flipper and shakes the air next to Grim's hand of fire, just to be on the safe side* I'm not doing too badly. In the midst of mid-semester assignments which have been terribly difficult, but the end is in sight (or nigh, even!). And how about yourself, Mr Grimly Grim?

Re: 1000 Post Club Am doing well. The Grimlets are sport-free this Spring, for a change, so the house is getting some much-needed attention... ![]() And refresh my memory; is this The End, or merely the end of the semester (which in itself is a good thing not to be knocked)?

Re: 1000 Post Club I do hope you are having some good Spring weather up there, after that horrendous winter! Ha ha, unfortunately, the End of which I was referring to was neither the end of semester or the end of my degree, but rather simply the end of the mid-semester batch of assignments. So not must of an End, but an End I'm very much looking forward to nonetheless! I am finishing my five-year degree at the end of this year though, so I guess that's pretty close, all things considered... *starts frying up some bread with eggs and butter* French toast?

Re: 1000 Post Club *finishes frying and sets out a plate heaped with slices for Grim (and anyone else who may come in)* *grabs a slice and gulps it down like a duck... I mean a duck-billed platypus, of course...* Well I best be getting to bed. Good catching up with you Grim! *wanders out*

Re: 1000 Post Club Sorry I missed you, HJ, but the breakfast is wonderful. And being finished at Year's End sounds like a tunnel with a light visible at the end.... ![]() *Nods appreciatively in HJ's departing direction, then sets to on the breakfast, having a particular weakness for French Toast..... *

| Truth. Order. Moderation. | Re: 1000 Post Club *wanders in humming Puttin' on the Writs , holds up judicial robes and proceeds to tap dance** for a minute or two* Good afternoon good doorward and good platypus. The weather has turned a little today here in Hampshire, overcast and cool in place of yesterday's sunshine, but things are indeed well with the Family Judicial, thank you, Grim. I see that when I come to write the definitive book "The Judge's Law of Tortes" I shall have to call Master Grim to provide a chapter. The most layers I've ever managed is six, so I stand in awe of anything above ten. But it's not the size which counts, of course. ** a dangerous manoeuvre, in view of the dirty crockery needing to be washed up which is piled in the sink - did someone mention butlers? I wonder if I can persuade the Writs to put on pinnies and do some basic housework? |
