Ah, yes ... the door prize. I'm afraid we gave our last door to the 2000 club, would this mulled wine and bag of pop-corn do instead?

Welcome, btw

Re: 1000 Post Club

It is more than I expected. Being a once a year drinker of wine or so, and none at all of other spirits (except the Holy Spirit )I have no idea whether you just gave me a $50 bottle of wine or a $.50 bottle of wind. But I love popcorn!

Thanks! (Sips wine. Looks quizzically at the wine; and begins to chomp on the corn.)

If one can sell wind for even $0.50 a bottle, I sense a lucrative career change ahead ...

I've known people that you would pay not to break wind, but never anybody who could bottle it.

Come on Parson.

Be realistic - 50 pounds ????

Re: 1000 Post Club

Hmmm, at the current exchange rate (a little more than 1.6 dollars to the pound), that would be more like an 80£ bottle, TEiN my good fellow (and happy new year, by the way). All the more indication that you're right, and that bottle was probably filched by HJ while Py and the other 6000 post club members weren't looking.....

By the way, Parse, did you happen to notice if Hatshepsut was looking for the hidden key under the doormat or something? Been hovering on the doorstep for quite a while now....

Well, indications from your apparent state of respiratory disruption to the contrary (), your stats would imply you'd be looking more in the direction of the 7000 club (they get Remy-Martin VSOP), Gol...

Does the dollar sign ($) get translated into the pound sign (£)? I was talking about a less valuable bottle wine (carefully tying so as not to call it wind) than that.

Okay Grim you said:

Now I'm no math wizard but it seems like you meant to say 30 £, or more precisely 31.25 £ rather than 80 £ for the said bottle of wine.

(Parson now suspects that the prize for a 1000 posts is being shared rather more liberally than he at first imagined.)

Re: 1000 Post Club

We put the pound sign on the front of the amount, as you do with the dollar sign.

At, for example, a rate of 1.6 dollars to the pound, $160 would (all other things being equal, which they rarely are) be equivalent to £100.

Pound sign in front of the amount! (Parson smacks head and thinks he should not have had that glass of virtual wine after all.)

But the defensive measures in front of the 4000 Post Club assets seems to be a wise investment. There are after all a half dozen or so who may get there one day.

It's the ones that pop in just long enough to borrow something permanently that the defences are for.

Nah, there's nothing of value left in there - we took them all with us when we passed on and upward...
