Re: The Asylum

Don't look at me, Ursa. We're talking late 80's at best. I haven't seen it since then. I'm just reeling from all the stuff I'd forgotten...

Re: The Asylum

Are you expecting a reaction, Deathpool, or aren't you reading about Newtonian mechanics?

(I saw the on-stage version in the early 80s. )

Oh, time's winged chariot, why do you mock me.

I'd better get a wiggle on and do...productive things. Blah.

Re: The Asylum

Productive? You're productive?? How come I'm not productive???

Oh, I still have the flu, that's right. Nasty stuff! I thought I was over it, but every time I get up, I want to fall back down again, so y'all are stuck with me for the duration. This is all I can do without stumbling...play on my laptop all day. Really, really nasty stuff for going on 8 days now. Wereman had it for 10!

Bye Hoops! *waves* Thanks!

Physics are anything but dull. Complicated and controversial, but never dull.

Re: The Asylum

This is the worst I've ever had as far as duration is concerned. It's really weird. Never saw anything like it before. The main symptom is just unbelievable fatigue. If I try to push it too much, I get so weak in the knees I have to sit down or I'll fall down. When Dear Husband had it, I had to take him to the emergency room, which didn't help any, but it went on for so long I got really scared for him. It's just going around in these parts at the moment. Has a long incubation period as well, it seems. He was over it for almost two weeks before I got it. Thought I'd dodged the bullet there when, WHAM! Knocked me down like a certain furry white direwolf we know...

I'm getting there slowly, but surely. Luckily, I have a lot of help around the house at the moment, or I'd be writing this under a large pile of pet hair. German Shepherds shed like nothing you've ever seen, and mine's a house dog. The cats make their usual contributions as well which I won't elaborate on, since I've elaborated enough. Hoover's a popular name in this household.

I had a friend with a mentally defective Afghan (I suspect they all are; heads steamlined down like that, there was no space for brains, so they just threw in a couple of random synapses and let it go at that), who could do a pretty impressive shed, and didn't believe in sitting still to be brushed. Not that he didn't enjoy being brushed, just that he considered if a game , and that we should be chasing after him with the bush.

One winter we drove him out for a walk, and the idiot plunged through the ice into a lake. He must have weighed twice as much when we got him out, and obviously he had to ride back in the car on my knee…

Re: The Asylum

LOL Chrispy. An 80 lb. soaking wet dog is a challenge, but freezing cold as well? No, thank you. That could not have been pleasant. Interesting, though.

Mine pulled a similar stunt with water. We had to evacuate because of Hurricane Charlie a few years back and hunkered down at my sister-in-law's house in Fort Meyers. The first night we were there, we were sitting outside on the lanai eating dinner and in the middle of it, there was a huge <splooooosh> sound behind me. She had apparently thought she could walk on water because she walked toward the pool and just kept going until she fell in. We're not sure since no one actually saw it. She had never seen a pool before, I guess. I don't know. I asked her, but she just cocked her head to one side and brought me her favorite hollow bone so I could put some 'spray cheese' in it. That's a dog for you!!

Getting her out was backbreaking work, and very....wet.

Re: The Asylum

*Floats in, almost 12 hours later, finding an untended asylum*

Egads! Is it a goblin holiday or something?

*Quickly thumbs thru the Tolkien histories, then thru Weis and Hickman, but no, no record of a goblin holiday in May*

Nothing. Ah well, can't have this....

*Produces a group of fiery disks, giving each instructions, and pretty soon clouds of dust and whatnot collect and are ushered out the upper window off the mezzanine....*

Hope no one left a pie to cool on the ledge below.....

*Turns to the urn, which is a gooey mess, and sighs, Manarion-like*

"Hi Grim. The Swiss turned up this morning looking for the Alp that vanished when Chris took them on holiday, they're lying lower.

Re: The Asylum

Ah, the missing Alp issue, I vaguely remember that one, or hearing about it, at least....maybe there is a Tolkien connection after all, Mount Gundabad being the goblins' northern home.....

*Yell from off-stage intervenes....*

Blast. Lost track of the time. Mass is earlier this morning; catch ya later, sir, and have a good day....
