Re: The Asylum

*Googles*

I'd make a pretty awesome boat.

S.S HoopyFrood.

And oh, hey, hugging spider. No need to abandon your jigsaw, though.

Re: The Asylum

That was a rare puzzle she was putting together, Hoopy-I'm sure she wouldn't want pieces lost amongst your oh-so-sprawling branches.

And Googling is cheating.

Re: The Asylum

How else am I supposed to find out the explanations behind random things people say?

Or look up obscure bits of knowledge that I know I know but can't quite remember...

It would be a fun game. Like hide the saltine but with jigsaw pieces.

Re: The Asylum

Heh, don't worry, was just singing songs to pass the time.

Hang on.

I'm a happy oak tree
This is where I be
Basking in the sunlight
And drinking lots of tea

I might not move around much
But that's OK with me
I'm very content here
'Cos I'm the finest oak tree!

Re: The Asylum

No no, Freda, nobody would chop the Hoopy One up. I doubt we could get rid of her in such a fashion anyway.

By the way, have you seen Juken? He's avoided me ever since I gave him that Contract last night.....

Re: The Asylum

I'd probably be like the broomsticks in Fantasia.

Re: The Asylum

*Flows out of the sconce and into an apparently empty Asylum*

Perish the thought!

*Sends a couple Grimlings to buzz around Septimus, electrons to his nucleus. Pointedly ignores the urn, which is making noises....*

Freda suttles down from the Hoopytree and waves to Grim.

Re: The Asylum

*Flows back out of the sconce*

Ah milady, sorry to have missed you. 'Twas time to begone from work.

*Leaves a cannister of the good stuff by the hearth for Her Impringlial Sovereignty, then peers in the ominous direction....*

Yikes!

*A fluorescent purple tendril is snaking out of the urn, and working its way toward Septimus, growing thicker and spiny as it comes.*

This probably calls for a mage, or perhaps a druid.....

*Flows back into the sconce, searching out the warrens, corridors and the rest of the rooms in the upper levels of The Chrons' lounge....

.....and returns from the fruitless search, breathing heavily*

Well Sep, it's up to me......

*Sees that a sickly green and yellow tendril has joined the first, the tips of each just inches from Septimus now, and acts. A thermal lifts Septimus 6 feet off the floor, then a sphere of flame encases the urn and tendrils. The tendrils draw back, then become barbed and attack the walls of the sphere. For each place they touch on the walls, they draw back momentarily as if in pain, and the flames flicker, close the gap, but glow infinitesimally less bright with each touch. Staggers, then bears up under the strain and the sphere flashes back to full brightness.*

All right, bought you some time, but I can't hold it permanently, and it seems impervious to my normal flame....

Re: The Asylum

*Wanders inside* Interesting setup around here. Hmm....let's see if this will work. *Bursts into a black flame and fires outward*

Apparently not.

Re: The Asylum

Yeah, it doesn't seem to mind the normal stuff, and the hotter options have consequences beyond what's called for here, Karn. Maybe ice will work better?

Re: The Asylum

#No, Grim. I'm of elemental ice, the way Karn is of water and you of fire, and it hasn't responded to that, either. Grim, I think it's elemental Earth!#

He has a point.....

Re: The Asylum

*Sees that Karn is temporarily unable to engage elemental powers, and tries a desperate ploy...*

Sep, a 40 gallon drum of water, please.....

*Thermals elevate the water above the fiery sphere, which now is showing large rents from the tendrils' repeated attacks. Upends the drum, then reverses flow of heat and fire, drawing all the heat and light from the room. The temperature plummets, the falling water extinguishes the now sourceless sphere, then freezes with a sharp snap, encasing the urn and tendrils in a solid cylinder of ice 5 feet in diameter (OK, my physics aren't the best, but work with me here). Sees that the ice is holding.....then sees that Karn has returned with Juken*

That should restrain....the tendrils...long enough for the UK....contingent to arri...

*Passes out, and fades from room*

Re: The Asylum

#Watch out!#

*Karn bursts into a rolling thundercloud, zapping away individual tendrils as he slides out an open window of the room*

We have GOT to find a way to clean this place out.
