Has it really come to this, a charity appeal abroad to help people in the UK?

I wondered what this was about. In Canada and the US a jumper is someone who goes off the top of a building or bridge.

It seems a little ironic since one in 12 British pensioners savings were most likely lost in Icelandic banks, and if not for that they could probably afford to pay for their heating.
