| Re: Crusade no more One might ask why a county needs silly name to add to the one it's already got. (In some sports, the name travels with the team as they move from place to place; e.g. the Arizona Cardinals have been the Racine Cardinals, the Chicago Cardinals and St.Louis Cardinals.) Unless the Crusaders/Panthers are thinking of moving elsewhere. By the way, I'm surprised that no-one has complained about the other part of their name, i.e. "Middlesex". |

| Re: Crusade no more Nothing so interesting, Dusty...it's a contraction of Middle Saxons, from the tribes that moved in after the Romans left Britain. We also have the East Saxons, which became Essex, and the South Saxons, which became Sussex, as well as the old name for the whole of central southern England, Wessex, the West Saxons. |
