Avatar use

Important: Avatars on the chronicles-network site are intended for use on the chronicles network only.

If you use any of the avatar images here on another forum, then you are welcome to right-click and then save the image to your harddrive, and then upload that avatar image to whichever forum you wish to use it on.

It not good form to link directly to your chronicles avatar when using an avatar on another website - it ends up using up a lot of bandwidth here.

I've already used some level of protection against images being reused outside of the site.

However, it is likely that I will very soon find an immensely large, immensively gross, and immensely offensive image and place it on this server - and use a scripting command to call up that image instead of the avatar images.

You have been warned.

So, please, upload avatars to new forums - don't simply link to the images here - or else there may well be consequences to follow.

I encountered a similar type image the other day, while in Google images. Someone had swapped the original innocuous image for something pretty offensive with words under the main image about bandwidth theft.

I can even try to describe it, because even that would be horrendous, too.

But I might just look for it again, and use it on hotlinked images from here.

am i ok? i'm not sure what you mean by this. my avatars are usualy full sized pictures that i've downloaded to my harddrive, then sized to fit onto the chronicles format. the link is to my home pc, i think?

I think Brian means using Avatars, which this site provides, on other sites - causing undue traffic on this site when you're not even on here!

You're find to use an avatar from here, save it to your machine and use it elsewhere though

If you chose your avatar from Bians collection on this site, and then entered the url to that avatar on another forum, then you did.

If you link to the avatar on this forum, then you're innocent

I'm sure most people here are fine - it may even be that people have surfed by, clicked on image properties, and simply added that to their profiles in other fantasy sites.

However, I just wanted to give everyone fair warning that I'm looking to address the bandwidth issue.

And Tsujigiri - thanks for the inspiration - instead of a horrificly offensive picture...I'll find something big with sheep in.
