I think it was Rohrer facing (he's a lefty), he moved right from TV view in front of the stumps and the ball barely missed the leg stump.

Ump called it a wide.

Re: Cul's Sports Bar

Cayal I must say I think they are being way too harsh with wides in ODIs and T20s. If it misses leg stump by a millimeter it is called a wide. It is a bit ridiculous.

Re: Cul's Sports Bar

Why is that ridiculous? Anything past leg-stump is considerably harder to play than past off-stump. It vastly limits the shots available to the batsmen too. Not a problem in four or five day matches, but in limited overs, you could just shoot down ball after ball just wide of leg-stump and there would be negligable runs scored, it's so easy to set a field to that bowling, since it would be practically impossible to get the ball anywhere except behind square on the leg side.

So I don't think it's harsh saying that anything beyond the stump is wide. It's a fairly well established rule, not as if they can claim they didn't know about it

Re: Cul's Sports Bar

Sorry but if a guy moves towards his stumps to play a shot and the ball would have hit him on the pads, it's not a wide.

Re: Cul's Sports Bar

I'm with Cayal. Bowling at the legs is a great tactic and often will get a wicket but if the batsman moves out of the way and it goes down on the legside, between him and the stumps, it shouldn't be a wide. You do see them called on occasion.

Cricket tonight, Australia vs South Africa. SA has already won the little series but hopefully Australia can win tonight to make up for the terrible last game. Doubt they will though. Missing Stuart Clark and Michael Clarke too much.

Thought I would say this. Australia has lost the number 1 spot in ODI rankings. After last night's loss. They need to win against NZ

And that's no certainty. Just not the same w/o Warne, McGrath and Gilchrist *SIGH*...leans back on rocking chair and resumes pipe smoking....

Re: Cul's Sports Bar

Stuart Clark is in doubt for the South African tour. Not good. Bracken better be going over there. They need him. And Phillip Hughes. As much as I like Jacques I think Hughes is the right choice.

I agree on Hughes. Not sure about Bracks though.

Re: Cul's Sports Bar

Could never get into cricket (baseball having been bred into my head since a very early age, the two won't co-exist peacefully side-by-side). Lax is kind of the same, except the Grimlets play both, so I at least recognize those places where lax rules make war on my soccer knowledge. Hopelessly lost with cricket, though.

Bracken is good, conservative. He would do what is needed.

Good game last night. I was watching on the edge of my seat at the end of it.
