The show has not had that sense of mystery and menace for an awfully long time, and I truly believe that they think that the only way to get us to react is to present us with Godzilla complete with fangs and claws,

I never really noticed this before, but it was ever since Johnathan Glassner left the show that it has took it's game from an average level og 9 to an average level of 7.8 (out of 10 of course). If Anubis does not trun out to be the Elephant man in drag then I'll probably be happy too. That type of stuff is reserved for Andromeda

What a thrilling show it is. The only monster in latex that is original to Stargate is the Unas which bears resemblance to the creature that resided in Ra. The original Unas we saw in Season One was powerful in size and of his voice. That was something I liked. The Unas in S3, voiced by Chris Judhe din't quite have the same presence, but it still wacked a mouthload. The Unas mixed in with a Goa'uld Symbiote is really all the monsters we need.
I often wonder why Johnathan Glassner left the show. Perhaps he saw the Replicators idea evolving and coudn't disuade the writers to not go down to lego Land for their props. Or maybe he was leaving and thought that he would bring the show down a bit by introducing the Lego Monsters. Or maybe he mentioned it to Robert C. Cooper as a Joke? I wasn't really on the net reading up on Stargate at the time when Johnathan Glassner left, so if anyone here knows why he left please let us know.
