How Will History Judge George W. Bush?

Looks like the spin has already started on the legacy of what may be the least successful president of all time.
23 days and counting until George W Bush leaves the White House - Telegraph

Here is an interesting link rating all of the US presidents.
Historical rankings of United States Presidents - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And this one rating the 10 worst presidents.

Hmm..interesting lists those. I'm slightly suprised Clinton didn't get a higher ranking and that Reagan was as highly ranked as he was in some surveys.....Go figure......

The American people elected a vicious, incompetent moron on two separate occasions. D'you think they'll ever admit to it ?

Ace, perhaps you should see the movie 'Fahrenheit 911' by Michael Moore. The American people did note vote for George W. Bush the first time at all. I would have never voted for that... that... hmm... Sorry I can't express the expletives that I am thinking of on this site. To be honest, I'd have to say that "incompetent", and "moron" fit, but his viciousness was extremely well hidden by a thoroughly planned diversion created by his team of mignons. In other words, G. W. Bush was nothing but a stupid puppet. Cheney was the real monster behind the scenes. They made up this whole business about "Weapons of mass destruction" for the sake of their defense contractor buddies who wanted some extra cash flow, and didn't care who got hurt in the process. It never had anything to do with 'Bin Laden', and that's the part I don't get. How could the American people be so damn stupid!!!????

Oh well, Lets hope things go better with Obama.

Re: How Will History Judge George W. Bush?

Since so many Americans don't vote at all, there will always be more people who will tell you that they didn't elect him than there will be who say they did, Ace.

I, on the other hand, have always been proud to say that not only did I not vote for Bush, I actually voted against him, both times. I imagine that Zubi can say the same.

The best thing that I can say for Bush is that history will remember him, which I suppose is something of a triumph for a man of such, um, modest abilities.

You Betcha! I did vote, and I voted against that corn fed, sow sucking, incompetent alcoholic egomaniac with an inferiority complex, serious paternal jealousy issues, and speech problems to top it off. (that was the best I could do to keep from fully expressing myself )

Re: How Will History Judge George W. Bush?

Well, there was some Bush apologist on BBC Radio 4 a few days ago making a (not very good) case for why Bush has been (not just a good, but) a very great President. According to him (and no figures or references were given) the American people are financially better off now than when Bush took office, and Sadam was removed under the full authority of UN resolutions! Next year when this recession has really gripped hold, he may have a different viewpoint (hopefully he will be out of work himself since he was clearly delusional.)

I don't have any figures myself, but it seems to me that there is an increasing divide in the US between the haves and the have nots. I get this impression from things such the lack of basic health care for people who cannot afford insurance, and the appalling response to Hurricane Katrina. It may well be true that some people are better off (munitions manufacturers, security advisers?) but there are many who are not (automobile factory workers?) Such a social inequality gap needs to be closed or it is going to lead to some big problems down the line, and that will be the Bush legacy.
