| Re: Battlestar Galactica Poll: Remake or Continuation Movie? I liked the 1970's (okay it was 1979 when it started) feel to the old series... It had some good ideas, and some bad ones... How did Baltar (who was supposed to have been be-headed in the pilot) become the leader of the Cylons - sworn enemies of humans everywhere???
But I liked the whole idea of the Colonial Warriors - men from all 12 colonies fighting for the common good!!! Though the whole Planet Earth being the destination of the 13th Tribe never sat right with me - where are all the advanced stuff?? And when did they (or we) get here???
And the whole angel encounter that caused everybody to end up in white uniforms was a bit far-fetched, but a bit of escapeism..
Now Galactica 80 was a complete waste of time!!! Jeez, that stunk little a month dead skunk!!! Flying bikes??? Super intelligent kids???
But this new series, I LIKE!!!! It is less male oriented!!! There is a more even division of male and female roles - as befits modern society... There is a better and more believable slant on why the Cylons exist and what they want to do and why!!!
I don't think Richard Hatch or Dirk Benedict would be good to play these roles... Was Richard Hatch a prisoner in one of the new series, or did I see wrong???
One thing I have noticed, where are all the black actors??? There is just one primary black female character - the bridge officer...
I enjoyed having black actors in lead roles in the original series.... Colonel Tai and Boomer!!! |
