Gosh......... I guess you don't like him then! LOL.

<G> I think he's a thoroughly disreputable character, the more so for the smarmy smile - unctuous - would make a good Uriah Heep! I've nothing against the actor (whom I'd never heard of before) except that I think he was a bit of a clot to take the part in the first place. It's a dirty job... Maybe he's desperate for those 30 pieces of silver?

I have to respect your opinion, and I see where you are coming from.

Oh good. You're not the only one who goes in fear of decapitation round here
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I say potential because, like you, I think he has committed too many faux pas (shall we say?) to be readily accepted as a member of the SGC or SG1. If he is to become one, then he'll have to prove himself to Jack and Hammond.

And I don't really see how he can pull the wool over their eyes; they're both pretty experienced at personality appraisal.

I don't know. Maybe their thinking is flawed. Perhaps they think we'll all be taken in by his boyish good looks or something. Perhaps they really do think we're all as shallow and brainless as that.

Yes. Insulting isn't?! :angryfire

Personally, I think T.P.T.B. have cocked up big time here. Jonas Quinn isn't the only short-sighted one when it comes to thinking through the ramifications of the plot. All they had to do was write Daniel out as receiving an offer he couldn't refuse in a diplomatic/academic capacity. No problems. He could have come and gone as the scriptwriters chose. His departure would still have been much regretted, but they would at least have circumvented the wailing and gnashing of teeth... <g>

Or maybe it was deliberate - a cynical ploy to whip up interest in the show...? If so, they seem to have got it in spades. What do you think?

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut

P.S. Joe Mallozzi seems to have been doing the rounds of the newsgroups, posting damage limitation messages after the Salon article. So I p.m.-ed him and he replied - which was quite a surprise (assuming it really was J.M.) . I have replied with similar observations to the above about Jonas Quinn and issued a challenge: If he really thinks we'll believe S.G.1 + General Hammond would accept such an undesirable unknown as a member of the team, then take me on as a scriptwriter for series 6 - which I'm quite prepared to do, incidentally. I shall be very much surprised if I do hear from him again, but I sincerely hope the parallel might give him something to think about... (again assuming it really was J.M.)
