Errata for the B&N volume

In this thread I intend to post errata for H. P. Lovecraft: The Fiction, issued by Barnes & Noble in 2008. I will make separate posts for each text from the book. After I have posted MY errata for a story, I invite everybody else to fill in anything that I have missed, but in order to keep everything neat and tidy, PLEASE do not post anything on a story before I have done so.

I use the Arkham House corrected editions as my copy text. Whenever I find something that diverges from the AH text, I check all the other sources that I have available: Tales, the Penguin volumes, the Hippocampus Press volumes... heck, I'll even check the Gollancz Necronomicon in an emergency.
The numbers I use in my posts refer to page and line numbers of The Fiction.

Good hunting!

Re: Errata for the B&N volume

I've been offline for a couple of days, but work has continued...

The Tomb
17.21-22: being indeed, stimulated] being indeed stimulated
*17.39: of the first Puritan colonists] of the Puritan colonists
18.2: At the time, indeed my attention] At the time, indeed, my attention
18.24-25: locked the cabin of the door] locked the chain of the door

The asterisk will be used liberally in fortcoming posts; it marks those instances when I cannot tell which version is the correct one. In the case above, both seem equally possible.

*29.29: Poems, Mr. Johnson said:] Poems, Mr. Johnson said: [It is “Johnson” in the AH text as well, but since all personal names in the text are italicised, I suspect that this may be an error of transcription, or an inconsistency.]

30.24: speaking for Davy when others] speaking for Davy when others

32.8: the Doctor’s death, at which] the Doctor’s Death, at which

I'm not too fond of the habit (in The Fiction) of making the first line of every story all capitals. In this case, you miss the fact that it's actually "Privilege" and "Reminiscence".
