Lyrics that make you go HMMM?

Ok So I was listening to the radio today and wondering if there was anyone else who ever hears a song and listens to the lyrics and things WTF? How did that song ever get on the radio with those lyrics or WTF where they thinking when they wrote that song...

So here are some that I find incredibly amazing that they made it

From Katy Perry's Hot 'n' cold

"'Cause you're hot then you're cold

and this just gets repeated over and over like they couldn't think of anything else to write so...

Beyonce's If I were a Boy

And everything you had got destroyed"

This song makes no sense, if you were a boy you wouldn't understand because you would be a boy, and if you were a girl in a boys body, you still wouldn't really understand because you would not be really a boy, you'd be thinking like a girl in a boys body.

The way I are - Timberland

"Baby if you strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are
(I'm about to strip and I'm well equipped
Can you handle me the way I am are?)"

Um yeah like most girls are going to see that as a great pick up Oh and the bad grammer just makes my head hurt..


Anyways these are just some I find questionable... Anyone got any others?

This thread instantly reminded me of going to see Dave Spikey (British comedian) in Manchester earlier on this year. He was talking about the same sort of thing, and held up the song Life by Des'ree as the worst example of random lyrics he'd found:

As anyone who's dropped into the Now Playing thread knows, I love Californian daft punk band The Mr T Experience, and I particularly like their often completely off-the-wall lyrics. However, when they covered REM's Can't Get There From Here - complete with Dr Frank's own interpretation of lyrics he admitted he didn't know - they kind of reached a new level of oddness. Though I still like the line "Donna Reed is not my mom."

the lyrics that have confused me the most and given me sleepless nights trying to understand them are those for Carly Simon's " You're So Vain"

from the first line, "You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht" up to the end of the last verse with "you're with some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend.", the song IS about him or the "you" it is apparently directed at.

so why does the chorus imply that the song isn't?

that would be like me now saying that this post isn't really about that song and implying that if you thought it was there is something wrong with you.

those lyrics have been doing my box in for 36 years

I think the line about friends means "if my friends don't like you you have no chance"

the zigazig ah could mean that she hopes her friends like him
and it gets past the censor without a bleep

Wybren, Beyonce and Timberlake are "modern american pop artists". Their songs aren't supposed to make sense. See, the thing is, lyrics in this day and age don't matter. People just like a beat to dance to now. It's horribly sad.
