If you can put a tune to them, the songs in the book do help put character to the races. Having said that, I agree that there is too much singing by the third or fourth reading, and the words are difficult to put meaning to.
For my money I tend to put Hobbit songs with simple, down to earth 'Folk' tunes. Elvish, I always think of soprano's and aria's. |
Just for you I've started reading the book AGAIN & this time am forcing myself to read the songs...I did the first time I read it 10 years ago, that's why I didn't bother .
