A woman from the US has had a live worm removed from her brain.

Surgeons thought Rosemary Alvarez had a brain tumour, but on operating they discovered the worm.
Dr Peter Nakaji said Mrs Alvarez probably picked up the worm after eating undercooked meat.

Wow, very very strange, the worst thing is the suspition that it could be passed on through food and the people who handle it. EEEWW!

Intersting - a similar incident occurred here when a Canadian tourist visiting Vietnam went for a swim in the local waters and picked up a parasite that lodged in his brain. It was thought that he had a brain tumour until a CT scan revealed the true culprit and it was removed.

Thats really creepy, though, like we didn't have enough medical problems to worry about.
