Alive & icking or Dead and Loving It?

A few days ago I was caught out when I was caught up in a conversation, one of those that goes off in odd directions - one of the points that was brushed upon was medical advances and I happened to propose the possibility of arresting the aging process - reversing it even so that people could give a lot longer, perhaps even becoming immortal.

I thought it was a no brainer - most people would jump at the chance. But it does not seem to be the case, in fact the majority are all for living out a natural span and would not touch a miracle anti-agapic if it would save their life!

So the question is, if it was around would you take the wonder drug, or would you sit back and live out your years as they stand?

For the record I've always felt that were the immortality serum ever discovered it would lead to a rather nasty war, as religion the rich and poor collide, but putting all the posibilities like that aside, I would take it if offered.

I'd probably take a watered down dose and see what the next couple centuries were like before commiting myself to eternity on Earth.

Why not? Such a serum would only prevent natural death, if I ever got tired of life I could off myself.

THats exactly the way I was looking at it, not exactly immortality but living until you'd had enough.
