Re: Anyone Looking Forward to The Hobbit?

I don't think so Cayal. There is little to no information in any of the books about the events between The Hobbit and LOTRs. The movies will be The Hobbit Part 1 & The Hobbit Part 2.

It's gonna follow Gandalf's solo quest, which I think would be awesome.

Sounds more likely. I thought I read it was a gap filler, might have imagined it or it was a rumour.

Thanks for the link, Stephen. Haven't been to the theater in a while; I wonder when it will hit the previews....

They're still showing the previous trailer that was released earlier this year (at least here in Australia as of yesterday when I went to the movies). Nothing new at the moment.

I'm looking forward to it especially since Martin Freeman plays Bilbo. He is such a darling!

Just as an aside....I just went to the link provided by Stephen and on the side bar was another story about "young people not trusting politicians" according to the latest study. Was that story and study really necessary? I mean, really?

Freeman could be excellent. He's the best thing to come out of The Office, by a mile.

Ah, the perils of links with "news" feeds in them; said link has come and gone. In its place today? A story about a court-ordered apology to Tulisa from her ex-boyfriend about releasing a sex tape of the two of them. I ask you: Other than those involved, who cares?

Re: Anyone Looking Forward to The Hobbit?

I deliberately haven't followed the news to avoid trailers, spoilers etc. Having mixed feelings about this Tauriel character and scenes from the trailers that clearly aren't in the book, but as a writer myself I appreciate the artistic license taken to round out a story that might not translate in certain parts to the cinema. A straight to film page by page adaptation might not make the best of films so having waited my whole life to see justice done to LOTR and not been disappointed in the slightest, I've got equally high hopes for the Hobbit. Roll on Christmas!

Re: Anyone Looking Forward to The Hobbit?

it really is nice to have finally seen a couple previews for the actual movie. I heard a rumor that it was to be in 3 parts. I haven't seen anything to back up this rumor but I wanted to find out if it were true.

It's true. It was recently announced that it will now be a trilogy.

Re: Anyone Looking Forward to The Hobbit?

I'm actually looking forward to it for what its face value provides. LotR may have had its issues in comparison with the books, but as far as visual entertainment, I enjoyed them, and I suspect I will with the Hobbit movies as well.

Come to think of it, my stepfather had gotten a copy of The Hobbit from somewhere a while back. I should see if I could find the thing...

Re: Anyone Looking Forward to The Hobbit?

There's a part of me that's really looking forward to this. Now that it's going to be a trilogy is highly likely that the movie can be faithful to the book. The other part keeps reminding me that I'll have to wait for 3 years before I get a complete story.
