'Ello, there!

Salutations, my friends.

I'm Noelle, based in my hidey-hole of Southern California (not much of a place to hide, eh? Not with the amount of clothes that people wear around here) and I received a pleasant tickle to my system when I stumbled across SFF after Google-ing some fantasy authors. I found myself engrossed in some of the discussions (the one about Terry Goodkind, for example: I dislike the man and his rather... preachy and self-righteous attitude but like (if you can call it that?) the series as a story and nothing more) about many of the series and books that I've come to treasure as well as those that churn my stomach.

Hopefully I'll expand my growing collection of books (I am rather proud of the numerous shelves I've stuffed, it was hard to get the books to fit ) and have my opinions contradicted, picked open, and reformed in great debates/discussions (and, of course, the occasional off-topic conversation--it's bound to happen). I'm a forum veteran but I, admittedly, have never joined one oriented so completely towards my favorite genres of literature. (I'm still asking myself why, but yes, any whack on the head is much appreciated.)

So, as long as you can tolerate my silly (but oh-so-serious) attitude, we'll get along dandily.

Hello, welcome to the Chronics. This is a traditional welcome in which I express the opinion that you are now addicted/trapped/caught by the quasi-dimensional pull/allure/color of the forums and will experience great difficulty in leaving. Again, welcome.

Fortunately, the prospect of being unable to leave does not daunt me. However, you might want to buy some head-gear for the near future.

I did enjoy your recent take on the LGBT movement vs Card's Essay/LDS religion. I'll have a rather long reply for that (as I am I practicing Mormon myself, though I don't hold onto nearly as many ideals as the traditionalists do).

Re: 'Ello, there!

A name to be pronounced after a blow to the solar plexus. And another in the 'build more bookshelves' set.

Do you have any idea yet as to how far you have to go here to be classified "silly"? Not that you aren't welcome to try; even a Southern Californian needs an aim in life (apart from attempting to avoid being burnt alive, that is, although that is an acceptable hobby)

And another parenthetical maniac to boot (I have been known {but not become notorious here for} to nest them four deep, as successive levels of diversion appear in this tangled monstrosity I call my mind {so why, if I call it, doesn't it come running? [possibly because it's no a pair of tights]}); you should have no difficulties navigating the convoluted mental processes that live here, more or less dependent on the brains that generate them.

Welcome home; sleep deprivation is a very real risk, starvation behind the computer a lesser one, but what a great excuse for not needing a life, eh?

Welcome, NGH. Sounds like your tastes run to the epic. What else do you like?

Didja bring any scotch? Stout would also be welcome...

Glad to know that diverging thoughts (which, quite incidentally is the only way that my mind functions: think about four things at once, discuss them at the same time) isn't only my problem. I mean, I love self-insertions, I'm far too opinionated not to (I'm not exactly sure that's a good thing...) but let's see how far I take it, eh?

Anyway, the pronunciation isn't quite that hard, love; it's like the good 'ol male Noel. (Except I'm far too lazy to put the umlaut over the first 'e'.)

Meeting the expectations for silly doesn't alarm me in the slightest. In fact, I was scared of scaring you off which in turn would result in you trying to scare me off (it wouldn't work, I have a strong grip ). I toned down my outrageous (I'd like to not think of my self as abnormal [Abbie Normal, gah, you gotta' love Young Frankenstein references] but then there's no fun in that) personality for the first few posts. (No loss of underwear yet and I'm not yet hanging from the ceiling, but with the mention of scotch [a very tempting idea, I must say] that might just yet happen.)

No worries of getting rid of me; I'm tempted to nuzzle my computer screen out of sheer joy of finding more psychot--ahem, sci-fi/fantasy junkies like myself.

With chocolate, the smell of printed paper, and a computer, there's no need for a life (talk about exhausting, it's no use to even pretend to say I have one).

Oh they'll be whacks on the head a plenty. Usually in the wee small hours when your not expecting it someone will creep up behind you unawares.

ARE YOU STILL ON THAT BL**DY FORUM AT THIS TIME OF NIGHT

THWACK!!!!

Usually it will be a loved one showing proper concern for your health though sometimes it will be one of use crawling out the woodwork when you least expect it.

I rarely skim through intro, as most never tend to go through the circles I do.

But welcome to Chrons, man. And better not break out a blow-horn, just remember which state borders you to the north.
