| Valeria | I was cruising the net for a poem by Viola Garvin called The House of Caesar and I fell in during the process. Y'all may live to regret letting me in because I am a bit odd.![]() I recently discovered REH and have since become a consumate fan. I can't read fast enough to explore the wonder of his talent and the richness of his imagination, not to mention the creativity of his insanity. My thanks to Renee Zellweger and Vincent D'onofrio for bringing Novalyne and 'Bob' to life. Novalyne's book, One Who Walked Alone, fascinated me, so I had to see the movie, too. Mr. D'onofrio plays crazy very well, and I kinda identify with crazy. ![]() Werewoman |

| Valeria | Re: Howdy! Um, at the risk of sounding incredibly stoopid, what are 'crisps'? potato chips? taco shells? How about clay pigeons? or maybe a cow patty? That's all the 'crispy' things I can think of off the top of my head. ![]() There's a full moon, so I'm a 'were' at the moment. I have an appointment with the dog groomer in the morning. I'm getting a little shaggy around the middle. |

In all seriousness, this place is awesome for talking intellectually (mostly) with witty, pleasant crazies. So it bodes well that you start by saying you are a little bit odd. It means you won't be so perplexed when you see a Shoggoth shambling along the corridors, an ever-growing pile of socks bursts out through the Tea Room door, or a giant spider with a cat sitting on her head comes running towards you. Enjoy!

Not, I hasten to add, that I have anything against Kansas; but it's hardly the area to hit if you want "odd". Neither really is Florida, but it did better. (I'm talking about a generation ago, but neither seemed in any hurry to change) But to be considered odd here requires a certain effort; not only are we not overburdened with conventionality, there is a specialisation in diversity (or a diversity of specialisations if that seems more reason - just a mo, we don't do "reasonable", do we? Apart from me, of course. I can't be odd, I'm too even. Even tempered, even handed, and even stranger than many more immediately weird. I live down the rabbit hole, which goes to show your choices are not mutually contradictory. Welcome home; the Jabberwock is on holiday in Malaysia, the Tweedle twins haven't been seen for a while, my conventional warnings about time absorbsion and addictive qualities boil down to "You weren't intending to sleep in the next month or two, were you?

| Re: Howdy! That's the truth, Chris. I fell into the place here pretty well, but only because I'm nothing more than.... Well, I shouldn't say that, family forum. But serious, Were, it's good to see new faces around here.*Juken flies up cautiously* #A werewolf?# Um....maybe not, Juken.....offer her a cream soda? |

![]() While you're at it, tell her I said she'll have to defeat the 15 year old, 6 ft. tall Troll that lives in the front bedroom if she wants my 'crisps'.

I do not require effort, certain or otherwise, to be considered odd, here or anywhere else. It's part of the package. ![]() I'll try to refrain from excessive conventiality and mass quantities of diverse speculations...I mean specializations. I don't sleep anyway, so it's a moot point. ![]() Has anyone seen the Cheshire Cat around here?
