| Thanks everyone. I have a question... How do I get my avatar onto my posts? I put one in but it's just a profile picture as of yet, how do I get it up on the threads? It's not extremely important, just bothersome. |

Now, where were we? Ah, hadn't started yet, I see. Like minded? yes, I suppose we like minds quite a lot. Not necessarily more than we approve of bodies, but minds get through internet links with less damage. I'm one of those who is enthusiastically writing, although I can't say exactly how many chapters it runs to; it isn't yet organised like this. So, any and all fantasy, or do you have favourite authors/books/worlds? Not that it makes much odds; you'll find enthusiasts for most of the major authors, and opinions on many others (not always compatible opinions, certainly, but that's what discussion's about. Welcome to your home away from reality; sleep might be in short supply from now on. |

| Re: I'm new :) Welcome, Raith, from another newcomer. There's lots of good stuff for writers, and lots of good stuff on publishing, but most of all there are lots of lovely folk on here. Can you tell me anything about your writing? How long are the chapters? Have you outlined the entire book? What do you expect the final word count to be? Have you written consecutively from the beginning, or do you have chapters from different parts of the book? Do you attempt to perfect a section or a chapter, or are you aiming to finish the entire book before redrafting. Apologies if this is intrusive, and I shall not be offended if you don't reply, but I am really interested in how different folk tackle the writing process for a whole book. Thanks. |

| Re: I'm new :) I had a basic storyline idea, and just started writing. I've gone over and over it several times and tweaked it here and there, sometimes rewriting a big parts of the chapter until I feel good about it. I do not have a page count, because I haven't printed it all out. My printer is crap and it uses a lot of ink I haven't outlined the whole book, because if it is too rough, it makes me crazy thinking about it, so I get a chapter as good as I can, (still not perfect) before starting a new chapter, and I still go back and reread once in a while and change things. |
