Life long fan of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Loved it since I first saw it on tv and at the movies. Bought my first comic in 1963 and my first sf book in 1967. I like the classic ABCs: Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, and Arthur Conan Doyle. The traditional ABCs: Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke. The alternate ABCs: Edmond Hamilton, Philip Jose Farmer, Jack Vance. Not real computer savy yet. Can't do any fancy stuff, but will do the best I can.

Re: New Member

Thank you all for the welcome. Glad I stumbled onto SFFC. Unlike a lot of people I didn't spend a lot of time checking out the place viewing posts and such. As soon as I noticed it was powered by vBulletin I decided to jump right in. They're the same outfit that does the horror forum I belong to so I wouldn't have to go through the aggravation of learning to navigate a new system (my computer ignorance would pain your mind to ponder it). What surprised me after I joined was the truly international flavor of the place. I get the impression SFFC is located in England somewhere. Everybody's from Europe (mostly). Cool! And the number of forums to check out is stunning. Where am I going to find the time to do it all? Better get to work.

I believe "Whoops" was the reply.

They are forced, on occasion, to contemplate mine, so I think they'll be able to manage yours without undue pain.

But if you stay out of the Tech forum (I always do) and avoid certain topics in Aspiring Writers, no one will have to know how little you do.

Thanks for the advice. My aspiring writing days are decades old and covered in dust thicker than that which adorns my turntable. I'm mostly into book reading/collecting.

Welcome to Chrons, Dask.

If you see a miniature monkey dressed in a clown costume, don't give him directions to the deli.

Welcome, Dask. There's a fair number of us here stateside, too, although your impression isn't wrong that the EU holds sway. Fair number of Aussies, too, and some representation from elsewhere, as well.

Hope you find many (but not too many; eating, sleeping and other things are at risk!) happy hours here, and hop right in when the mood takes you.

Gotcha. If I see a monkey in a clown costume I'll pull out my phaser and set it on stun.
