NaNoWriMo 2008 - any takers?

Is anyone else on Chronicles planning to have a go at writing a 50,000 word novel during November?

If you've not heard of this before, full details are at the NaNo website:

www.nanowrimo.org

It's great fun, and a good opportunity to get words down on the page, under the pressure that thousands of others are doing the same thing.

All I need do before midnight tomorrow (when it starts), is come up with a plot, a protagonist, an antagonist, some interesting subplots, ...

Cheers,
Patrick.

a great idea, but there's not enough time in the day - and i've got too many projects on the go as it is....

good luck though, anybody who takes part.

I thought about it. But seeing as the last two times I tried nanowrimo resulted in surgery on one occasion and heavy duty pain killers on another, I decided something is sending me a message and it would be less painful not trying again.

I didn't realise that writing could be that dangerous, ktabic.

Wow, sorry to hear about that, ktabic.

I'm thinking about it. And I seriously need some sort of kick up the rump right about now.. Hey HJ, I'll do it if you do it!

Blimey...NaNoWriMo causes that?

*Sets up her usual table with orange slices and gold stars* Yeah, for the third year (blimey, it's been that long...) in a row, I'm on the sidelines cheering and handing out oranges again. And as usual, I'll make the promise that one day I will participate!

Very very tempted. I like a challenge. And I have a couple of basic premises floating around. They would probably result in much more than 50,000, but I think that's okay, under the rules, as long as you hit the 50,000.

So, we doing a SFF NaNoWriMo challenge?

Still thinking! 4 hours and 47 minutes until November begins...

This is pretty risky Dreir!

I've officially signed up twice, and, er, officially failed twice. I don't think I'll try it again this year, maybe next...

Indeed. It's dangerous enough with all the commas and fullstops rushing by. Getting hit with a semi-colon or a hyphen is quite painful. Getting punched by a punctuation mark is not fun.

It just seems that November is a painful month for me ever since I tried to do nanowrimo for the first time (indeed I was at the Doctors again this morning). Fortunately it doesn't seem that it is gonna be a painful month this year, but I'm not taking the risk.

I'm doing it - it's a good reason to let my current first draft 'brew' while I try a different style / genre thing.

Looks like fun. Well at least an interesting challenge! Shame I'm not exactly in the area.
