| Living in Paradise | Re: Food Loathing Beetroot and Tomatoes are two of my favorites, love them, grow them, eat them. But I am with Wy on this one, cannot eat eggs, uch, runny things. Mixed in a cake, desert etc and I am fine with them, but an omlette or quiche count me out. Sprouts are you sure they are meant to be eaten, they just look awful and taste worse than awful! My son has a bit of a dairy fobia he will not eat cheese or use butter or margarine or cream on anything but drinks heaps of milk. Bookstop I didn't think you were evil (but I like it and now have visions of you racing around the house with a pickle in your hand) The world would be a much sadder place without Garlic and Ginger! |

| Re: Food Loathing Milk. Can't stand it. Yogurt and cheese are beloved. Badge carrying hater of Martmite and Veggymite. Blergh. Most meets. (have left restaurants on account of smell of cooking meet making me feel sick) Eggs in soup. (what en evil invention) Vinegar on chips. What is THAT all about?! Chip butty. Seriously? Potato and bread? No really? Yuck. Not a great lover of curry but I can eat it if social circumstances demand. Citrus flavoured desserts. Disgusting. And, of course, gluten intolerance means I can't eat my favourite food in the whole world - pastry. Or I can, but I pay for it massively for weeks afterward.I love all vegetables though. I LOVE LOVE LOVE beetroot. And broccoli. Love it. Can't eat enough of the stuff. Brown rice - another favourite. And I couldn't live without tofu - although not the silky stuff, it's a bit too slimy, so preferably the smoked one. LOVE fish. And love anything with chocolate in it, but this is a thread about hate, not love, so this is my stop.. |

| Re: Food Loathing This should be fun. I have a couple of things that I don't like, but are considered "normal" to like. Brussels Sprouts is a no-no. Sauerkraut I'm not fond of, but I am willing to eat it if there is nothing else (making sure that I don't have a lot of it on my plate). I don't like strawberries, blueberries..not any berry really, heh. Not too long ago, I discovered that I did like the taste of a vegetarian pizza slice that I ate. Not sure what was on it. but otherwise, i don't like pizza. I still like the smell of pizza though. Same with coffee. I like the smell of coffee when it is still in the package, but I care for the taste. I am still giving tofu a try..but it is such a strange food item. A lump of unattractive food with hardly, if any, taste at all. I felt like I was tricked into eating something that wasn't actually food. My archnemesis is pepper. I am quite sensetive to it. And yoghurt. Just..no . I really don't like the taste of it. |

| Re: Food Loathing Pickles and anything picklish like relish, anything with vinegar, lemons, or limes. I just hate sour stuff. Hubby and kids love all the sour, sharp tasting stuff. I don't know why. They love those salt and vinegar chips. I have another word for them I won't say on here. However, they will not eat tongue, gizzards, brains, or liver, hearts, ect ect...unless they don't know what they are! Evil of me, I know. I refuse to cook with or eat tofu. It is the most useless stuff ever invented. It looks like a big brick of dried vomit. No thank you. I will not eat fresh lobster or crab. Anything you have to break its bones to eat I just can't stand that sound. I will eat it if someone else cracks it for me. PS: For those of you who don't like sauerkraut, try making krautburgers. Mix the kraut up with fried hamburger, bake it in thawed or raw pita bread, and dip in catsup. So nummy. |

| Re: Food Loathing Agreed with that, I had some old milk when I was a kid and haven't been able to drink it since, it's too bland. When I eat curry and my mouth is on fire I can drink it, but only then. I also dislike cheese, especially large amounts melted. |

| Re: Food Loathing Crab is acceptable, but I won't go out of my way to find it. It truly is the flavour of lobster that I loathe, from the very first instant that I tried it. My parents like it. My brother likes it. My sister is allergic to all shellfish, so it's off limits to her, so she has never tasted it. My wife likes it. And, in an effort to appease my family members and other disbelievers, and to ensure that I really wasn't missing out on something divine (everyone raves about lobster), I have tried it multiple times, so as to quash the idea that maybe it was only childish taste buds that couldn't stand lobster. Alas, I hate the vile taste of the things, even as an adult, garlic butter notwithstanding. Sushi and sashimi on the other hand are purely delicious, particularly when prepared by an expert sushi chef (I think they have a proper Japanese title, but I don't know what that is). Pass the wasabi and soy sauce, and give me a plate of raw fish any day. Maybe I just like things that swim better than ones that crawl on the ocean floor who devour the swimmer's excrement and putrid remains? The taste of lobster is surely indicative of their diet. Aside from lobster, I am pretty omnivorous myself, and am always willing to try something new. Last edited by Clansman; 18th October 2008 at 02:40 PM. Reason: No. 23 |

| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Food Loathing Cheese that has any kind of growth is right out for me. And yoghurt, too. It's just unnatual. Or maybe too natural... Don't know how anyone can hate onion! I love the stuff, but my wife hates it so I never use it any more, sadly. I miss onion. Top of my loathing list though has to be seafood of any kind. I've copped a lot of flak over the years for it, but I just can't stand anything that comes from the sea. |

I cannot eat tomato. I just can't. Tomato sauce as well. Except on pizza, when you don't notice it. And even though I love the taste, I find it so hard to eat...Veal. Its just monsterous. | |

| Re: Food Loathing I'm a vegetarian and love all vegetables, including the Brussels sprouts so many of you hate, but can't eat beetroot. It makes me ill for some reason. And I don't eat pineapple or many strawberries because they hurt my mouth. The only food I really hate beyond that is goat cheese - can't get past the smell. And in restaurants the vegetarian option ALWAYS has goat cheese! Mary I love Marmite, btw |
