| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Great time to do it. The season is gone, nothing to lose. If he doesn't pan out cut him and pick up someone else in next year's draft. They'll pick early, and there are some good QB prospects. I can see Fisher sticking with Collins, though... |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) I think the next game for the Titans (Indy @ home) will decide their season and possibly Fisher's job. So I don't see him changing Kerry Collins for that game. Should they lose that one then yeah, their season is done. If they win it's still a big ask but their schedule after the bye isn't that tough - apart from week 9 of course - so it's not impossible. But to paraphrase GRRM, 35-0? Life is beautiful and full of joy |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) I have been absent (posting) for over a year, still reading though. Tonight is the Vikings Packers game. The Favre soap opera comes full circle. Packer fan by birth so you know who I want, but after Wisconsin beat the gophers, and the horror of 4 in purple, I'm not terribly optimistic. At least he's not wearing a star, I could even handle a C, but not a star or horns. So to cross both footballs discussed, Who is the bigger scandal going to an arch rival... Brett Favre or Carlos Teves? |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Favre's not really a scandal, he's just executing what I call the Roger Clemens (to insert yet another sport in this discussion), rule and offering himself (for a fee, of course) to the highest bidder he believes is a contender. Is it awful that he didn't play is whole career in GB? Of course, and the romantics among us might even call it scandalous. Fact is, GB's management was tired of the same routine in the summer, and called him on it. If Favre can still play (and all evidence is that he's still better than many starters), why not? By the way, we still seem to be missing a tag for the Packers..... |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Well not scandal but to a fan base where a fan favorite goes to a rival this year they seemed to stand out. Clemens a great call and im sure this thread isn't the best spot to compare city and united with green bay and the vikes. But being a Wisconsin fan boy of both sports and a bartender they have been figured as the two largest kick in the (ad lib) of the respective sports this year. (Obviously Packer-centric here, but also can be said for United and the Spurs)lol 1 hour ten til kick off, and the pack even with Favre faired miserably up there, so I have to assume tonight will be the night Favre beats every team in the NFL. * and both Teves and Favre were rejected by the prior team |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Congrats Vikings you deserved it, too bad you made Favre look like an easter egg. Really, Pink, Purple, White and Yellow. (P.S. I know about Diana) He beat every team oficially, yet another record. He has everything. |

| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Bloody Vikings D did just enough to cost me a fantasy football win. I was hoping Rodgers would get a couple quick scores late, make up for that safety, but it didn't materialise... |

But in the real game that was brilliant game management. No so brilliant were the decisions that left Farve standing looking around for receivers he could throw to. And whatever they did on pass protection obviously was done poorly because mostly you could not find any pass protection. (Switching now to Viking Fan Mode): WOW! Did Brett have some snap on those throws! If you would have told me that the Packers could hold AP to 55 yards on 25 rushes! I would have said there was no way the Vikings could win the game. We might be seeing here the pattern for the rest of the season. Sell out to stop AP and hope the Farve reverts to what a normal 40 year old playing a game for 20 somethings would look like.

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) 2/3 of the season still to come plus a very likely playoff spot. Better late than never. I can't believe he was even considering re-entering the draft. That would have been about as dumb a move as I've seen in recent years, which have been pretty well filled with stupidity. Seahawk's season is real close to being a disaster. My prediction on Seneca Wallace appears to be rather bad and Walter Jones may have already played his last NFL game. |

And the Jets trade for... Braylon Edwards? I honestly don't know who got the raw end of that deal.

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Hmm. Not sure how I feel about the Michael Crabtree situation. He has this "TO" rep now and we ended up trading him because he was a disruptive influence. The holdout was annoying in the extreme and frankly I think he insulted the whole team by not signing up, though Singletary has been careful to remain as positive as possible in the media, which is lucky for him. At the end of the day, it's what he does on the pitch which will determine whether he's a bust or a boon for the niners. He's a rookie and missed 1/4 of the season, not to mention training camps so I don't expect him to do much until the back end of the season (if then). If he catches the superbowl winning touchdown this year then I'll forgive him ![]() And as for the whole Braylon Edwards thing...he's been bleating about wanting out of Cleveland so he's got his wish and gone to an "up & coming" team so maybe that'll shut him up, though I doubt it. As far as who got the best deal I think it's the Jets short-term and the Browns long-term. Which means Mangenius will lose his job but the extra draft picks should help the Browns over the next few years as they have holes all over the team. I also think it's a sign from the owners that they're raising the white flag on this season though, so lets see how the fans react to that. |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Make that 3/4. ![]() I shouldn't underestimate the power of a negative personality as Winters Sorrow hints at. Crabtree better tread lightly because so far they look like a good team and he'll really piss some people off if they start losing from here out. |
