I am a Pats girl, but I do tend to watch a lot of Cardinals game, being that I'm from Arizona. If they're playing, that's the game the cable company shows. We generally cheer for them when they're playing though. And I would say after the Pats, I like the Steelers Grim. I just love Mike Tomlin...and they are all about defense, and I love good defense. I wish the Pats coach was as cool as Tomlin. I'm very excited for the Monday night games tonight. Hopefully Brady has a good game, and we'll see what T.O. can do in Buffalo. | |||

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) My favorite highlights from yesterday: Not sure how many saw this catch since it was the Broncos/Bengals, but what a way to end the game. ![]() And Adrian Peterson is ridiculous. I love how he just pushes 2 defenders down to the ground. |

| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Now that's a touchdown run... My favourite stat of the week - Drew Brees, 26 of 34 for 358 and six, count 'em six, TD strikes. And this week we get a McNabb-less (and Vick-less) Philly. Though that defense is going to cause a lot more headaches than the Kitty-Cats did. |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Yesterday, a DDOS attack ate my moan, but it's worth repeating. ( )Dallas won 34-21 and yet they're in third place in the NFC east. ![]() (And it doesn't help that I know why they're there.) |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Yeah? Well, two days ago a DDOS (sense, in this case, rather than service) ate my Redskins. Talk about a reason to moan; what a bunch of chowderheads.... (ooops, chowder doesn't deserve that!) |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) And probably not the best analogy given their lack of a clam-like defence, for instance. (But perhaps you're thinking they were both mussel-bound and looking washed-up?) |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Perhaps, rabbit-bear....perhaps... *Grim's Groaning Chorus coughs loudly* Er, right. So, after a bevy of pretty decent games (Skins excluded, and not just because they didn't win; neither team deserved that game) in Week 1, we have: Cul(Saints) J(Cowboys) Joja(Seahawks) Lady(Patriots) Parson(Vikings) Reiver(Jets) Seph(Vikings) Ursa(Cowboys) ALL AT 1-0. Bringing up the rear in somewhat more desultory fashion at 0-1, we find yours truly. To quote one Benjamin J. Grimm(ward): "Wotta revoltin' development!" |

| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Chin up, Grim, St Louis this week. Surely you'll beat them! EDIT: You also missed Pyan from the the winner's list, by the way. I know it's hard to read through those tears, though, so we'll forgive you this once... |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Egads, missed a whole half page of postings, I did! For shame... The original list was merely those who'd responded this year thusfar, but I hopped right to the last page earlier this morning without making sure I had all the posts, it seems (well, it was past 2, a reasonable point even for a practiced insomniac to screw up!). OK, then, to the corrections (and if there's anyone else waiting to hop out of the woodwork and take issue, we're happy to have you but I'm not correcting Week 1 anymore after this! ![]() ).Cul(Saints) 1-0 J(Cowboys) 1-0 Joja(Seahawks) 1-0 Lady(Patriots) 1-0 Parson(Vikings) 1-0 Pyan (Jets) 1-0 Reiver(Jets) 1-0 Seph(Vikings) 1-0 Ursa(Cowboys) 1-0 Cayal (Titans) 0-1 Grim (Redskins) 0-1 'Tis a sad thing when critical thinking is reduced to cut and paste, isn't it? Cay will be happy to win this week and be rid of me! ![]() Not meaning to deflect attention from my shoddy record-keeping, but it looks like the NFL's been paying attention to some shoddy record-keeping practices of their own...could it be that the injury list will actually bear some semblance to accuracy? ![]() P.S. And yes, Parson, the season has started. "This is the game Adrian has made; rejoice and be glad in it!" |

| Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) With win over the Rams the Seahawks move to 12-22 all time on opening day in maybe the least impressive four touchdown shutout you'll ever see. Encouraging signs on offense though with probably the best group of receivers the team has ever had. Houshmandzadeh is a true no. 1 receiver (whereas Branch never was and is proving to be awfully delicate), Carlson is quickly turning into a top 5 tight end and Burleson is always dangerous as long as he can keep the dropped balls to a minimum. I'm not ready to sing the defense's praises just yet. We'll see. |
