Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Still with the Patriots. Hoping the shoulder injury from Friday isn't serious so we can actually watch Brady play this year. He's looked good through the preseason so far.

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Insofar as they don't get in the way of my Cowboys, I hope to enjoy watching Da Bears and (ironically) the Steelers, and a few others this season, but, yeah, the Cowboys. If we can get away from the injuries that have been dinging us up and hopefully not have to rely on our (apparent lack of) depth and/or if some people in the background can step up, and if we can get those penalties under control, we ought to do well, Ursa. 'Course, we ought to have done well last year. ![]() Regardless of wins and losses, I would like people to stay healthy. I'd love to see Dallas hitting on all cylinders when whatever happens happens.

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) I've been following the Jets since O'Brian was quarterback and I feel they do best when they have a QB willing (and able) to abandon the play as called in the face of opposition adjustments. Basically the Jets are a Plan 'B' outfit ('that's never gonna work, what now?'). Oh, and they need to just throw the damn ball!

| This world is not my home | Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Farve hands off to AP going left. He cuts back. There's a block downfield. Look out! It's all over! He's gone!!! What pure joy! Last edited by Parson; 1st September 2009 at 04:57 PM. Reason: changing clauses to sentences. |

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Welcome (back?) reiver; Pyan will be happy to have another Jets fan...... Easy there, Parse; it's only preseason.....you don't want to hurt something celebrating just yet...!

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) So, from those who've weighed in.... Cul = Saints J = Cowboys Lady = Patriots Parson Vikings Reiver = Jets Seph = Vikings Ursa = Cowboys Cay, I'm sure you're still behind the Titans, and Py, would guess that you're gonna hang with reiver again.....any other regulars from last year lurking out there, or anyone else interested for that matter? We don't bite (much, except Cay when he's hungry! )....

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) I've only just noticed that the Pro Bowl is being hgeld one week before the Superbowl. Would I be right in assuming that no players from the NFC and AFC Championship teams will be playing in the Pro Bowl?

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) I'd missed it too, Urse. Apparently, the NFL announced it right before the last pro bowl. Can't imagine any of the players from the conference champions attending....

| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Getting close now. Warmed up last weekend by watching some college football, which I was happy to see pop up on our new(ish) all-sports free-to-air channel. The long winter really dragged on while baseball was the most watchable thing on there. Somewhat fortuitously (and unplanned, I assure you) I've got the day off Friday so I can watch the Titans-Steelers season opener live. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait a while for a televised Saints game, but at least I can watch a few games a week this season. Much better than last year. |

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Good for you, Cul. I also warmed up by watching the Florida State - Miami game last night. What a game! A pity that the Skins have to open with the GIANTS....

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Now that that preseason nonsense is over I can start thinking about pro football. Looking at the Seahawks schedule it is hard to picture them doing better than 8-8 or 9-7. So I'll split the difference and predict a 10-6 division champion, kind of season. And then probably bounced in the first round of the playoffs.
