Are the TVs in the Dallas stadium too low?

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

(Cayal, That is a great sign!!)

Brett Farve looked exactly like a quarterback who had only been in camp with a new team a couple of days. I wouldn't say it was a bad debut, I would say it's too soon to say about anything with Farve.

I was very impressed with Tavaris Jackson. With the exception of the pass thrown 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage he looked more accurate and more in charge than any time I've seen him play. Jon David Booty looked more than adequate as well. (There's a rumor that T. Jack is being shipped out or released, but that was before last night.)

The rest of the Viking preseason looks to be very interesting indeed.

I don't doubt that Farve will start when the regular season begins, but I doubt a lot that he will be the quarterback by the end of it. (Injury being the most likely cause of his demise.)

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Here's a joke that's been going around Packer country this week: "The Minnesota Vikings received a government check for $4,500 this week. They qualified for the 'Cash for Clunkers' program by signing on Brett Farve." For those who don't know the US gov. has been paying people for trading in their old cars to buy a new 'fuel effiecient' one.

Didn't you see the game, being a Titans fan?

But, yeah - the Titan punters were bouncing footballs off the bottom of the giant TV in pregame warmups and did it once during the game, resulting in a "do over". In all seriousness, the TV can be raised (it's about a hundred feet/30 meters above the field, I think) but I think it's kind of supposed to be where it is (in terms of the stadium, rather than the punters) so I don't know if Jones will raise it.

I agree with Parson and Ursa - great graphic.

No, it wasn't televised in Australia and I was out anyway so I didn't see or listen to the game (which sounds like a good thing based on what I've heard).

Fisher's a cagey coach; I wouldn't read too much into any of the Titans' preseason games....

Put another way, 'Skins play the Steelers tonight, but if they win (or even if they are winning when the starters come off the field) would anyone interpret it as an indicator for the season ahead?

No one takes much from pre-season, such as the Lions going 4 - 0 in pre-season last year.

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Yeah, I always worry when a team goes 4-0 because it means they aren't taking advantage of preseason to experiment and learn and I worry when a team goes 0-4 because it means they can't beat anybody. 2-2 is a fine preseason.

In terms of the games themselves, I don't think it's the score or the win/loss column, but just what really happened. The Titan offense was okay - they just didn't seem all there. The defense couldn't keep the Cowboy offense off the field but maybe Fisher was holding them back in ways. And given that the Titans are 2-1, they can obviously win. The only thing that would especially worry me was that Dallas played sloppy with penalties and near turnovers and so on and the Titans didn't really capitalize and make 'em pay. Even if you were being cagey about who played when and what plays you called and all, you should still be able to take advantage of gifts. But, otherwise, I figure both sides just found a lot of things to work on for practice and the upcoming games.

Well, they sure 'nuff did. And, no, I doubt it'll look the same in February. But you never know.

-- Found a fairly good article on the board issue - I thought it was 100 feet, but it's only 90 - though the rules apparently only require 85 feet.

Well I'm glad my Saints got up but I'm happier to see that we may have actually found a running game finally. With Bush out Bell really stepped up and did the job against the Texans first-team defense. I think a Bush-Thomas-Bell combination is looking good for the regular season.

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

I'm thinking they'll be moving the screen up....

Interesting battle for the Skins 3rd string QB. Colt Brennan's got 2 INTs in 2 weeks, last night's coming in the red zone. Chase Daniel, meanwhile, looked excellent (granted, it was against the 3rd string Steeler defense, but that same defense picked Brennan off). Daniel's got a pretty good set of wheels, too....

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

What do people think about Da Bears this year? Sounds like an interesting game against the New York football Giants. I can't remember what they were, but the Bears made some interesting off-season moves even before Cutler and, while I sure hope they don't get in the way of my Cowboys, I am interested in what they might do this year.

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Hmmm, methinks it's almost time to stand and declare....for those of you new to the thread, we get behind our teams, and their record becomes ours, standing-wise in the thread each week. This changes when we get to the play-offs, but more on that later.

Any (gasp!) changes of heart/ship jumpers in the crowd? I continue to blindly and foolishly remain a fan of the burgundy and gold, myself....

Grimward = Redskins

Also, if you are new to the thread and don't see your team listed in the tags, please by all means add them!

The Saints will go marching in this year. Mark my words. Black and gold superbowl.
