Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Ah, well... Putting it in early, then, I'm going for the Cardinals for the Superbowl, based on the British love of an underdog, and really liking the idea of a team winning it for the very first time...

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) I've picked the Cardinals to lose three times in a row and they've won three times in a row. I can't decide if I should give them the Lombardi trophy or not. ![]() What the heck - put me down for the Steelers, even though I really don't want them to win. (I like 'em these days but there are historical statistical considerations.) Those games were good, though. The Cards did have a sort of Cinderella feel but did a really good job on the Eagles and the Steelers/Ravens game (except for the unfortunate McGahee injury - who fortunately seems to be okay) was fantastic smashmouth defensive football (though not without a surprising amount of offense, also). I liked the wild card games, too. The divisional round seemed the weakest for some reason. Probably mostly very poor play from Carolina, New York, Tennesee - the Pittsburgh/San Diego was probably the best of that round. Anyway - congrats to Wig, Ursa, Parson, and Grim!

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) It's looking more and more like Anquan Boldin won't be a Cardinal next year. Besides saying at the beginning of the season he doesn't want to come back (contract issues), that sideline discussion with Haley (offensive coordinator) wasn't a good sign. Of course they are trying to cover up for it now, but there were reports he left the locker room before some of his teammates even came back from the field after the win.

| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) This will be the first Superbowl I've missed in years. I was planning on skipping work, but that's not going to help me because it's no longer on a TV station I can watch. Not impressed... |

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!) Same here. Cul - American Football used to be on terrestrial tv in the UK, but as soon as the b******s at Sky realised it was gaining popularity, they moved in with the big bucks. I've always liked the Australians, and all the ones I've ever met have been lovely people...but I'd happily have wiped out Adelaide in the 1930s to make sure of eliminating Rupert Murdoch's parents...
