Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Loyalty, Love and Lack of Common Sense doth a true fan make, your Parsonship!

And check this out: The Cowboys have to pay the NFL part of the fines issued to Pacman Jones....wonder if this is something that Roger Goodell implemented after the Bengals and Vikings fiascoes last year/two years ago (ie, make not only the team's image suffer, but also their pocketbook). Will admit I haven't followed the checks and balances aspect of the NFL as closely as other aspects (namely, football, for starters)....

Brady had an infection in his knee following the surgery, Lady; not good!

Might get Seneca Wallace back for today's game against Tampa, Joja. If memory serves, he was pretty exciting to watch (in both good and bad senses, although I may be confusing him with someone else on the *cough*interceptions*cough* memory).

The guard that almost allowed the Skins to win anyway last week despite their bonehead mgt. of the game, Richie Incognito (a good name for him after last week, I'm thinking) got fined $35K for his stupidity. Too bad the Skins couldn't similarly cash in....

Brandon Lloyd, a bonehead WR for the Skins last year but doing relatively well for the Bears this year, is out with a knee injury..

*Hears Seph and Parson cheering for the implications to today's game against Chicago in the background*

(And, since we started with them, we might as well end this jaunt with them, too....)

Jerry Jones is up to his old tricks, Ursa, or perhaps has disguised his actions better recently. Why is it difficult to see that Al Davis doesn't make a good role model?. Between insisting that Tony Romo can start despite his injuries and then pulling off the Roy Williams trade (TO and Williams co-existing without being unhappy about number of touches?), there's a lovely level of distraction floating around the Ranch right now....

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Well, we're not rollin' all that well, unfortunately. Got a divisional whipping from the Panthers today to keep up the win one lose one pattern. And next week we've got the Chargers in London, the gods help us. Although it is our home game, and that's the ultimate west-to-east trip for SD...

At least a couple of former Saints are doing well around the league, with Haslett, Brown and Craft picking up a second big scalp in a row in St Louis. The Rams are now my official second team.

Bah - beaten by the Raiders is bad enough, but to go down to a club-record 57-yard field goal in OT...

3-3 on the year now..

Cayal, what do they feed your lot on down there? Horseshoes?

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Was that a Vikings/Bears game I watched? 48-41? Did someone morph the black blue division into the powder blue jerseys and white shoes side of the NFL? A little judicious apportioning of those points by either of the teams and both could be 6 and 1 right now and being mentioned in the Super Bowl chase!

Parson goes home to gag on the special team blunders and FOUR interceptions. How did they only lose by 7 pts!?

I need Denver to kick a couple of Field Goals or score 4 TDs or more.

I have their kicker in fantasy and down by 3.

49ers coach Mike Nolan was fired, he is officially the 100th NFL coach fired since Titans coach Jeff Fisher took the reins in 1995 (I was at his first game as head coach).

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Hmm, not looking too good for your fantasy team, Cay. The Broncos have caught the same turnoveritis bug that plagued the Vikes yesterday, it seems....the Titans, on the other hand, are a juggernaut, and MAN is Chris Johnson fast! That's Darryl Green speed, it is....

Got to be a little happier with the proceedings thusfar, Lady....

I thought the Skins would suffer a similar fate, Py. That would have been the Browns' kicker's longest FG, though....Janikowski always been known for his powerful leg. He was one of the highest (might have even been THE highest) draft picks at the Kicker position ever taken for good reason. When he first came into the league, he was a bit of a numbskull, but he seems (mostly) to have settled down, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him break the record for the longest field goal (he's already hit the uprights from 64 yards out....).

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Hooo boy, Moss just returned a punt for a touchdown. Cay, Shanahan's Broncs have apparently never been shut out, but this really doesn't look good as far as that statistic is concerned....

Well I got one fantasy point for the extra point. Now I just need a meaningless Field Goal.

Stupid Broncos. It's called DEFENSE! Ever heard of it?

As long as it's against someone else....
Here's the video - it can't even be described as "just" getting over, either. Phenomenal kick...

Some long kicks are amazing in how far they would have gone.

I was at the game where Rob Bironas kicked a 60 yarder to beat the Colts in 2006 (I was sitting in the endzone where he kicked it) and I swear he would have made it from 65.

Re: Football (american football to those across the pond!)

Actually saw it on Sunday when it happened (plus however long it takes digital tv signals to reach my set thru the fiber from Oakland Colliseum), Py; CBS jumped to the Jets/Raiders game after the Browns and Skins game finished.

At first, I thought you were joking around (the ad that plays before the game footage is that Sprint ad where the cell phone becomes a stadium and a field goal gets kicked out of it)...

Yes, that was a bit annoying - but I don't think you can alter posted video clips, can you?
