| Re: top three fave Anime The Studio Ghibli films - I love every single one, they're just too good. Ranma 1/2 - It just never fails to make me chuckle. Tokyo Mew Mew - I can't help it, it's so cute. |

I forgot about Wolf's Rain. It was pretty entertaining although I've seen a few eps.

| Re: top three fave Anime Yes, I have to agree with BookStop. Avatar: The Last Airbender is technically not anime, but it does share some conventions, enough that some people call it "American anime." The setting might not be as complex but the characters and story are very well-developed and engaging, which I think is unusual for an American series of this nature. Batman (not to be confused with The Batman - which I can't stand) and especially Batman Beyond are actually among my favorites for American animated series, but even they adhere very closely to the convention of a more episodic style than anime (more stand-alone episodes, fewer dealing with the overall storyline). |

| Re: top three fave Anime Bookshop: My bad i thought you meant the big blockbuster Avatar not the animated The Last Airbender. Should have been more clear. I dont like people using anime as a name for american style animation. Of course there are american animation tries to look japanese anime but i dont find that interesting. Every culture should use its own style and not copy others to make money. Michael01: Batman animations are great most of them, specially because they are stand alone eps. Its rare for any animeted to make good stand alone eps. Anime or western animation. Its greater than most western animation and anime i have seen. I compare it only to the best animes. |

(Though I think Avatar TLA is more a straightforward copying of styles than most.)

"American Anime","American Manga" works are just a trick of marketing. I'm talking about lame stuff like that. Being inspired by others is natural. Tezuka one of the fathers of manga was inspired by Disney and Kurosawa was influenced by western culture like fav directors,Shakespeare. That i read was the reason Kurosawa was never big in his own country while the rest of the world admire him.

| Re: top three fave Anime Ah, yes .. oh, I seem to be contributing to a derail here (in fact, I may have started it)... Sorry, Connavar. I meant that I've only heard some fans call it that. I haven't heard it used as a marketing tool or anything like that. Now ... just so I'm not blatantly derailing our favorites thread: 1. When the Cicadas Cry 2. Blood Plus 3. Eureka 7 I've seen about two or three episodes of Wolf's Rain and thought it was interesting. I'd certainly like to see more when I have the chance. |
