Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy Ummmm.... I'm afraid your post seems rather... odd. Not that the idea of doing such things is odd -- in fact, it's quite sensible -- but I can't tell from your post if this is simply a statement, or you're asking for suggestions/feedback, trying to get a discussion of such a concept going, etc. Could you clarify on this one, please?

Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy Religion: All organisms have an inner soul and become one with all others' souls upon death, in the aetheric plane (while we're now on the physical plane). This mass-soul is the hive-mind which influences all development of life as well as bringing a start/end to our universe as it continues on in an endless cycle of big bangs and big crunches.

Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy what i meant for this post to get suggestions/feedback. To get an idea of the goverment like who is the leader, or maybe its a group of people, what are the kind of people that live there.for exemple elves, dwarves,ect... is it a monerchy, democracey,ect... For the relegion I meant the name of the relegion, the name of the god(s), what are the religous leaders called(for exemple Pope),what the priests are called, what the priests do. what the relegion belives in. heaven/hell type thing.

Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy The Church of the Holy Spiggot Founded when the plumber's union took control of the military in 2010, the US was converted to a theocracy based on the premise that all water is scared and the means with which it was treated, conveyed and imbibed were holy instruments to be revered. The priest acoutrements consist of a shower cap, bathrobe/shower curtain, and flip-flops. Whoever holds the immaculate bar of soap excercises supreme authority until it becomes that mushy gushy stuff we save thinking we can use again. More to come...

Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy very...interesting The Orcs Rellegion Of The Holy Gods Goxs And Woxs Goxs and Woxz were the first orcs. They became gods, when, during a fight they hit each other on the head with the magical rock of magiclness, wich no one knows how, transformed them in to gods. The relegios leeder is the head shaman, wich is picked by hiting him on the head with the rock 3 times. If he survives he is the gods chosen. His job is to lead the sacrifice of gaint boar, helped by the other orcs. Battle is sacred to the orc gods. for an orc the greatest honor is to be killed in batle. But if you die and the batle is lost you go to hell.

Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy Alright then. I think there have been several sci fi/theocracy meldings that have made somewhat of an impact. The Handmaids Tale with Robert DuVall comes to mind. It's a great subject that definitely should be explored

Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy Well Weeper, you don't have to go very far. Here in the UK, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is head of the Church of England, making her not only Head of State, but Spiritual leader of the world's Anglican christians. Of course, she lets the Archbishop of Canterbury do the actual work, but I'm sure someone with a little savvy could tweak the situation to his advantage to make a good story. David Eddings', 'Belgariad,' introduces two theocracies, Ulgo ( The Gorim, is marked by having blue eyes instead of the normal brown and is an absolute monarch, both temporal and spiritual.) and Nyissa, where successive queens are chosen due to their resemblance to the original handmaiden of Issa, the snake god.

| Comment Giver | Re: Goverment/Relegion fantasy It doesn't quite fit, but the first thing that sprang to mind as I was reading the thread was the Patrician from Pratchett's Discworld books. Although the name itself implies a fatherfigure, I always felt it had religious overtones - although they are never really stated. But the idea of an almost benevolant tyrant is a good one that seems to work. In Ankh Morpork anyway |
