What "scene"? (Again spoilers through AFFC)

Was the most emotionaly evocative for you?

I'm going to ask that we don't include Ned's execution and The Red Wedding, otherwise I fear this thread would get redundant in a hurry.

Outside of those two, for me, it would probably be Jon elected as Lord Commander, and Sam being the instrument that made it happen.

Honorable mention: Craster's Keep, and Gregor admitting his crimes before he kills The Viper.

I will have to give this some more thought, but there are a couple that come to mind. They are from AFFC since that is the book I just finished.

I loved the scene where Cersei goes to see the new High Septon and Margaery, but ends up getting locked up herself. Especially after getting the faith to conduct the trial and making it so any champion of a queen must be from the Kingsguard.

Also the scene of the Viper and Gregor's fight. Quite powerful.

I know there are others, but will have to think back a bit.

Re: What "scene"? (Again spoilers through AFFC)

The scene where the houses of the North crown Robb as "The King in the North!" is pretty cool. Made me think "Ok, the good guys might have a chance now, they seem pretty riled up and motivated."

And then in direct contrast...

I thought the scene where Robb beheads Karstark for the killing of the two Lannister relatives is pretty disturbing. The fact Robb feels obligated to do the execution himself and has to reflect upon how he and Karstark were once close allies, fought battles together, etc. bleh! *shivers*

For me, it was a very strong realization that Robb - and the North in general - really was in over his head. Got the feeling right then and there, that no one from the North really had any idea of what they were doing, kind of like an airplane full of passengers with no pilot. Scary stuff.

The scene where Chett is sneaking in to kill Sam before fleeing the Wall...and then the sentry horn blows...once....twice...three times. The Watch only sounded the horn three times if Others were attacking and it hadnt been sounded three times in hundreds of years. That was a nice and creepy scene. Not that emotional, but gave me the feeling of "Uh oh, **** is about to hit the fan".

A few I found emotive:-
Jaime meeting Tryion in the dungeons and Tryion saying " Look at us, one hand and no nose, the Lannister boys"

Jaime giving Brieanne the Valarian steel sword that was remade from Ice.

The scene in the tavern where the hound and Arya meet some of Gregors men and Arya stabs one repeatably with Needle.

Arya gaining passage on a Bravosi ship by presenting the iron coin and saying Valhor Morgohlis (sorry bad spelling, have not got a book to hand)

Ohhhh, Jaime telling Tyrion that she wasn't really a whore and the rift between the Lannister brothers that it caused.

Forgot about that one.

Nice Tarl.

You've mentioned good ones... some awesome ones.

I'll add...

Tyrion demanding trial by combat... twice. And both combats.

Jaime's bath with Brienne... he tells her the story of Aerys.'

Catelyn's visit to Jaime... their banter and Jaime's story of Brandon's death.

Brienne's fight with Rorge and Biter...

Jaime's defenestration of Bran... the things I do for love.

Tyrion's double murders... Lord Tywin, in the end, did not **** gold. Or something to that effect.

All three of Tyrion's battles... Yield!

Re: What "scene"? (Again spoilers through AFFC)

Mayhaps my very favorite scene is when Catelyn interrogates Jaime in the dungeons of Riverrun. The dialogue is very real. The pace is stacatto... bang, bang, bang! It is a meeting of two characters that I really loved to hate at that time. It's the first close up we get of Jaime since the morning after he tossed Bran. Catelyn tries to intimidate and shame him... neither work. Then she and Jaime trade information... a few real eye openers into the Stark-Lannister-Targaryen-Baratheon mess. Jaime's bravado and arrogance are astounding. Catelyn's psyche has been pushed to the limit upon learning of Bran's and Rickon's deaths and seeing Eddard's bones and her father hovering near death... she's a loose cannon pointed in Jaime's direction... and we still don't know what her agenda is when the chapter ends. She calls for Brienne's sword.

That's an excellent one Boaz.

Another powerful moment that hasn't been mentioned yet is when Arya leaves the Hound to die slowly.

Re: What "scene"? (Again spoilers through AFFC)

I had forgotten many of the scenes mentioned here. So many powerfull moments in a great tale perfectly told.

I'll add:- The scene where Daenerys realises that the Drogo she loved is lost to her. She kisses him goodbye and suffocates him with a cushion. Then washes his body, oils and braides his hair and mustache, hanging his bells one by one. Dressed in his favourite painted vest his body is burned on the pyre....The fact that the dragon eggs hatch in the pyre and the khas lay their weapons at her feet is the icing on the cake. I think that was the moment where the picture I had in my mind of Dany changed from a 14 year old girl into a young woman, and a Targaryen.

I forgot about Arya having to pelt Nymeria

Dany unleashing the Unsullied on the condescending, painted slave traders will always be a "hell yeah!" moment for me
