| Re: Bag of Bones Whoa, can't believe I've only just noticed this thread. My King watching isn't up to scratch! I've read it a couple of times (although it's one of the King books I don't actually own. I think...) and I enjoyed it. Although that's to be expected from me, I guess, so I'll go into some more details. Although I don't think it's one of his most memorable (I know some who might disagree, though) it's certainly still very good. It's somewhat like the precursor to Lisey's Story, dealing with a character in the wake of his wife's death, trying to deal with that, while having both a human and supernatural threat. Although the supernatural is much more at play in this book, and of quite a traditional quality; this book really is a ghost story. A good plot and characters, and some very nice eerie moments (such as the with the fridge magnets) and a very shocking moment about three quarters of the way through. I hope, as with any King book, that you enjoy it. Oh, 2500 posts. Yay. |

| Re: Bag of Bones I read it and thought it was awesome. One of the bests, maybe and I have read at least half of Stephen King's novels. But on the other hand, it's just my opinion and everyone of course form their owns. I think that sometimes the supernatural endings in Stephen King's novels are somehow too disordered, mild, boring and foremostly not convincing enough. But in this the final chapters were good enough to even exploit my good night's sleep. It was that genuinely daunting. The characters in the book were unbelievable real and somehow they even managed to get my empathy during the pages, which is usually a relevant sign of a truly well-written novel. I loved how the marriage in the book was described and when the writer in it was grieving for her perished spouse, I could have cried as well. The book was long. That was a pro since in particular the length allowed to make the story's world so profound. Likewise, the oblong waiting for the end arose excitement, curiosity and fear - emotions, reactions and that's what a good book is much about. |
