Driving me crazy!

Hi everyone, I wonder if someone could help?

I moved house about 6yrs ago and have since lost the book, and don know when it was published- to make it harder!

I can describe basically lots of disjointed elements of the plot and characters, I'm really sorry, if someone could make sense of this I will be forever grateful!

The book I remember was perhaps 2nd in a trilogy. The main character, maybe named Morgan or something, is in another world but originates from earth and has discovered herself here with a male friend- maybe colin or conrad or something. The world is inhabited by elves, sea orcs, seers etc and has similarities with the LOTR world.

The woman and the man are accopmanied by other characters as they journey through the world (I cant recall what for), notably a unicorn loyal to the girl and an elf.

Some part of the involves the girl being imprisoned with the elf who is constantly sick. The girl and the boy appear to have had some sort of relationship in the prior book- they later get separated as she is imprisoned and he is taken to a place that resembles ancent Rome.

The boy is very intellegent and always wants to improve the new world he is in by introducing technology etc. whilst other characters realise his brain could be used for war and negative purposes. When he is seperated from the group he journeys somewhere under duress from land orcs and manages to escape.

Also in the book is a scene where the girl and the boy are on a ship of sea orcs down a river, having returned from a magical elf city that casts a spell of illusionment over its inhabitants, and are attacked by a kelpie and then later a dark mage or wizard that the girl character battles.

At the very end of the book the girl appears to be in some sort of safe convent for seers where she sees into a scrying pool.

So sorry about the poor quality of what I have just written! Its all I can remember, the unicorn was prominant, as was nthe elf character- I think turns out to be female.

Please, please, please get back to me if you can rememeber the author or title or anything. Its been driving me mad for ages!
