Re: New 300

Hmmm i enjoyed 300 and wonder if it should remain a standalone.
I see on that site mention of a Clash of the Titans remake!

Re: New 300

Sounds really odd, as the article itself says, everyone was killed oof at the end of the first, and as far as the historical 300 went that was it...

I suppose it could tell of the war against Persia but it could be sequel for the moneys sake...

Re: New 300

They took one of the greatest stories from the dawn of Western Civilisation and turned it into a third-rate comic. I shudder to think what they'll do next as Greece solved a recent energy crisis by wiring the Spartans spinning in their graves to the National Grid.

Perp: No this probably brings the plot up to date where Tellos Sevalostopolos takes a mixed bag of loafers, naredowells and murderers behind the Persian front line to sack Babylon

Have you read Frank Miller comics at all ?

If not dont judge him by hollywood movies. He is the greatest modern comic legend.

I myself dont care for a new one. Seeing the real history dont fit the story. The first one had good action, visuals but it should end as stand alone.

Re: New 300

Isn't Frank Miller responsible for Mad Max? Or is it a different Miller.

Re: New 300

I think it is a different Miller - George?

Frank Miller is a comic book writer/artist who was just making a name for himself on Daredevil when the original Mad Max came out... (The comic nerd peeps out from under the carpet)

Re: New 300

As long as Frank Miller's behind it, I'm confident I'll appreciate it. Though I hated RoboCop, but he himself did so too.

And as Perp said, he didn't do Mad Max. The Guy who did Mad Max is indeed George Miller, and his most recent film was Happy Feet, I believe.

Re: New 300

The other movie most identified with Frank Miller is "Sin City". Like "300", it's based on a Frank Miller comic book, and Miller was heavily involved in the production of both movies and how they were adapted from his own comic books, so you can be sure that they represent the kind of thing he wants to publish. (Both movies even pretty precisely reproduce most of the comic books' frames from what I'm told!) And they do have a lot of stylistic elements in common.

Re: New 300

Sin City was great.

But 300 comic had much more emotion, depth than the movie. Unlike SC the director wasnt good enough to capture the feel of the comic BEFORE the action scenes...

I did enjoy Sin City but I'd love to see it filmed properly. Can't get used to white blood

But that's the essence of the graphic novels, AE35.

Re: New 300

Ah that I have to interject on.

I would reccomend reading V for Vendetta, you will very soon see the point. This dystopian tale is set in an unamed future date, where nuclear war has wiped out most of the earth apart from the UK, the UK is ruled by a fascist goverment who have total control. The story is told from the point of view of a young girl who ends up meeting and being tutored by a mysterious anarcist dressed as Guy Falkes.

This is a political tale firmly placed in a future where liberty has been replaced by the rule of the gun. Its bleak dark and very nasty in places, but it asks some questions perhaps we should be asking ourselves.

300 shouldnt need a sequel it was fine on its own, a film filled with buff guys in nappies do we need any more of em?
