Re: Chris Ryan

He is. Ryan was 'the one who got away' from the infamous Bravo Two Zero SAS patrol in the 1st ('91) Gulf war. I've never read any of his stuff for tat reason, perhaps i should not be so easily prejudiced. If you're looking for military/special opps/covert material I'd guess he, alongside Duncan Faulkner(ex-SBS) and Andy Mcnab (Also of Bravo Two Zero fame), would be someone who's more likely to paint an accurate picture.

Try it.

Re: Chris Ryan

Got away how ? What do you have against him ? Did they do something scandalous ?

I have been wanting to read Mcnab to see if he is to my taste. I like coverts, special ops kind of stories.

Re: Chris Ryan

Um, nothing really although the survivors all told different stories about what happened which always arouses suspcions somewhat and I'm a very cynical individual.
Most around them including Peter 'Billy' Radcliffe (RSM) were inclined to believe they brought a lot of trouble on themselves.
Read the books then read Michael Ashers' The Real Bravo Two Zero.

To be fair to Ryan his escape across Iraq to Syria (hence 'getting away', the others were captured and tortured) was and is an amazing feat.

Re: Chris Ryan

At the end of the day they were probably doing what they were told on limited information and telling only what they were allowed to after - not read any of his books but as survival goes he is pretty amazing

Re: Chris Ryan

I heard Andy McNab is a pen name for the author because he is in trouble with some terrorsit groups who wants to kill him for what he has done. You will see on his site that his face is "shodowed out" even in a Larry King interview Larry had to explain to the viewers why they are shadowing out his face. Pretty freaky when that is on your mind all day.
