Gregory Keyes

I hear the last book in the "Kingdoms of thorn and Bone" series (The Born Queen) is out. I'm a bit surprised to read this as I haven't even seen it anywhere. I'll be off hunting it after work today. Has anyone in the UK even seen it in bookshops?

Re: Gregory Keyes

I saw it in Borders today.

I read the US version when it came out in March.

Re: Gregory Keyes

It's out today. I'm actually really worried about reading this - from the incredible start of the briar king the series has gone down and worried that he's going to mess everything up with this book!

Well, I still have a year to go (as I won't buy it until the paperback is out!)

Re: Gregory Keyes

So I got it from forbidden planet. I've read just about all his novels, and I must agree - he appears to start quite strongly then gradually fade.

Re: Gregory Keyes

I got it as well. Read it. Good writing, but Gregory Keyes seems to struggle with story endings, in my opinion

Re: Gregory Keyes

I've been wanting to read this series for a while. Keyes gets great reviews, his earlier series (Age of Unreason and The Waterborn) sounded interesting and his Star Wars and Babylon 5 tie-in novels are excellent. However, I decided I would wait until the series was complete before picking it up. Thus, when I saw The Born Queen finally on UK bookshelves, I immediately picked up The Briar King and The Charnel Prince. Will get to them in a few weeks, hopefully.

You missed one. It's a 4 book series you need to get The Blood Knight as well.

------

I loved the series although I did think the ending was a tad rushed as he tried to tie up all the loose ends.

Not as in depth as Martin or the others, but some decent characters and it was well written.

Re: Gregory Keyes

It's a totally good read I assure you. Brilliant literature and all. I remember reading the waterborn, it was absolutely fantastic. The blackgod was slightly less so for me.

And now I picked up the collected Lone Wolf stories. Looking forward to checking these out.

Yes, I know Money prevented me from getting the third book at the time.
