Re: return of the crimson guard

Now I'm one of the jealous ones!

The question is, do you have the control to wait until August?

If it's a hardback, this a small chance that you might damage it, so once you've finished reading it'll still be "nice".

EDIT: Oh, is that the badly proof-read version? If it is, I'd probably wait for the better edited mass market version in August.

Up to you. However, the one piece of advie ICE himself gives to people is to read it before Toll the Hounds. It's not 100% essential, but apparently there's a couple of major events in RotCG that are mentioned out of the blue in TTH.

Re: return of the crimson guard

That helps, doesn't it? What with RotCG getting published after TtH.

I wonder which of Esslemont's future books should be read before Erikson books? Night of Knives should really be read before The Bonehunters, I think, and now we're told that RotCG should be read before TtH. Hmmm.

PS Publishing Latest Titles

but it wasn't cheap PS Publishing is a great place to get Bauchelain and Korbal Broach spin off short stories if you haven't already got them.

I would say it looks like there has been a problem with this editon and as I haven't read it yet I haven't found it I am sure it will surface its nasty head but hey free book out of it as well.

Re: return of the crimson guard

Actually, the RotCG/TTH crossover problems aren't too bad. I gather that Erikson didn't actually get a chance to read ICE's manuscript, so the two characters who cross over from RotCG to TTH really don't mention what they got up to just before this book. The biggest of the huge events in RotCG isn't mentioned in TTH (surprisingly, in fact) but another revelation does slip out which I think impacts on a RotCG storyline.

But overall, the issues with reading TTH before RotCG seem to be lot less pronounced than some of Erikson and ICE's statements suggested.

SPOILER WARNING:

Seeing as Esslemont is not released in Belgium, i am unlikely to be able to read his part of the novels. so i was hoping you could give me a summary/synopsis of what happens. I read somewhere that Laseen dies.

I'm sorry to hear you can't get this book.
Basically alot of the 'old guard' such as Toc Elder, Urko etc crawl out of thier hiding places and decide its time to rebel against the empire and Laseen. Also seing that the empire is weak, the Crimson Guard, led by Skinner and Cowl decide its also time to return and attempt to defeat the empire. So Laseen is forced to defend against two enemies on home ground. I don't want to give to much away but there's some excellant battles in this one and would suggest that if possible get a copy.
Good luck
