Question Music that really speaks to you.

So, I'm a music FREAK and I was wondering -- I know I have a few bands that I have to have a daily dose of. Do you?
  • My Chemical Romance
  • MIKA
  • Seether
  • Linkin Park
  • BoA
  • This Providence

Not a bad list there Nyomimi.

For me it is Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog

Re: Music that really speaks to you.

Nothing on a daily basis and most of it goes in cycles, I seem to have weaned myself off the Rolling Stones lately with heavy doses of The Doors.

But the most consistent ones would be The Cat Empire and Powderfinger, followed by John Butler Trio, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Re: Music that really speaks to you.

Imo the Aussie music scene is pretty strong at the moment, I could name another 20-30 artists in that next group down that would be a lot more varied but as far as long term favourites go Powderfinger are just great aussie rock, Hunters and Collectors used to be right up there but The Cat Empire has topped the list for a good few years now. I just wish I could find more music like it.

The Cat Empire is brilliant. I love their style. I had had hopes for Juke Kartel as I had heard a bit of their stuff before that chemical dreaming song, but so far their hasn't been any new releases

Cheers, Tansy. Like yours, too - especially the "early" Manics. The Holy Bible is still a favourite.

Re: Music that really speaks to you.

Certainly is, and their more recent stuff has (IMO) been pretty bland and boring.

Oh, and to add to my earlier list:

Red House Painters/Mark Kozelek
Ry Cooder

Cold Chisel and AC/DC are played most days, either while I am working on my laptop or driving the car.

Re: Music that really speaks to you.

I think most of you would know my love of Bruce Springsteen............. do I have to listen to him everyday? Well no but I nearly always do.
When I am doing a long drive to my sisters (3-4 hours away) I pack at least three Bruce CD's for the trip, weekends I will always put a Bruce DVD on. Do I listen to other music, well of course, occasionally. I do like Powderfinger and John Butler.
