I'm a little confused. Are the ehh of Eddings,the oy of Piers Anthony and sigh of Robin Hobb good pointers or bad?

No, they are bad pointers. I just didn't want to get too far into each one.

Well I read and enjoyed The Belgariad,well most of it anyway. I ran out of steam towards the end of one of the books,but thats how i am with fantasy as they tend to come in long drawn out series. Never read any Hobb,never heard of her till recently and thought it was a male author! As for Piers Anthony well i loved the Vale of the Vole and also the robot adept books. Must dig into him again sometime!

Patrick Rothfuss - Name of the Wind
Trudi Canavan - Age of Five series
Karen Miller - The Innocent Mage books
