Re: Music in Films

I thoroughly enjoyed the music in War of the Worlds. Best listened to with headphones on or to sit between the speakers.

Re: Music in Films

I did something like this in school a couple of years ago...

We came to the conclusion that if films didn't have music in them then they would seem unfinished. We actually tried making a short film without music and it didn't work out too well. Music gives a mood, places out an atmosphere.

The Imperial March (more commonly known as Vader's song) sets the tone of an evil guy coming on screen...and so on.

Re: Music in Films

I hate films with loads of music in,especially the old films-very melodramatic!

Re: Music in Films

I love movie music. Imagine the James Bond movies without Monty Norman's famous theme, or Sergio Leone's Man With No Name films without the Ennio Morricone whistler, or Psycho without Bernard Herrmann's screeching violins. Good music will always enhance a movie.

Re: Music in Films

Last night I watched Pan's Labyrinth, and I think I mentioned this in the movies thread, but the soundtrack is very very nice. It's mostly based around one haunting, minor melody, and the music is really emotional. BF and I just sat there after the movie finished listening to the credits music over and over again. Haunting, beautifu, and really complements the movie.
