The language in The Last Witchfinder

It takes place around the time of the last witch trials and he has adapted the language to that time.

To me, it is entirely convincing, but as a non-native speaker, I could easily be fooled, so I'd like to hear what native English speakers think of the language in the book, if there are any in here who have read it.

I just keep wondering.

Re: The language in The Last Witchfinder

My impression was that it used just enough archaic phrasing and formallity to give the reader a "flavour" of the time without making it un-readable due to lack of cultural context (as much genuine historical writing is without detailed annotation or a vast knowledge of the common assumptions, manners and "pop culture" of its period).

Overall I enjoyed the book - I will admit to finding it a bit of a chore to pick up again at some points - but I don't regret finishing it.

Re: The language in The Last Witchfinder

Thank you!

I also enjoyed it a lot, though it took me about a month to read it, partly because it was a bit hard to pick up again a couple of times for me too.
