It was in the middle of 'The King's Buccaneer'. Pug told Anthony that he was a rightful successor to him at Crydee

I really need to read the 'Tear of the Gods' books! I had not a clue who Bear was and that let me down

You can skip the other two Krondor books, they're not really interesting, but Tear of the Gods is a must-read imo. It introduces Laso Varen and there's a funny little thing going on with the Goddess of Good
